2021 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I distinctly remember a time when it was a given that the Longhorns would have 10-15 of the top Texas prospects locked up in the spring every year (before the early signing period bumped the timeline earlier for everyone).

It was remarkable in its consistency.

with the mounting prospect of no college football or kids on campus this fall and no high school football does anyone have thoughts on how recruiting will be impacted?
Greatly.

For one thing, kids will be inclined to stay closer to home - or at least that is what parents will want. That could even haunt us with the current commits.

But what could be really interesting is if there is no HS football this fall (my grandson is a senior so I don't even want to think that might happen). But if that happens ....

We are recruiting players based on what they did when they were 16 and 17 years old. We have not seen one play from any of the kids in this awesome class of ours during their senior year.

Should we lose this season we will be recruiting based on what kids did as Sophomores. Great opportunity for the second tier schools to hit some home runs.

Also, kids would still be going to school even if not playing football. Imagine the number of eligible Grad transfers even if the NCAA doesn't go with the one time transfer rule.

And keep in mind that the rule to go to the NFL is three years removed from HS. We could lose 5 stars after their true Soph season. Wade could change his mind. Fields could make the jump.

Not saying any of that is likely, but since you asked.
