tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Interesting to see what other teams follow this model:
Football Scoop-LSU

To help pay players, LSU planning to sully uniforms with advertisements

LSU hopes the NCAA will allow schools to sell patches on their jerseys, something (deputy AD for revenue generation Clay) Harris said also generates "multiple millions of dollars a year." LSU has identified a partner, which officials declined to name, if the rule changes.

LSU has mapped out where the patches would go on every jersey, from cross country to football. Most of them would appear on the chest, in purple and gold.

"We don't have this as some crazy, NASCAR-like situation," Harris said

Super! Now college football will be like racing, and pro golf! Soon to see football unis with fabric softener adorning them.....maybe U of Miami can have bail bondsmen logos prominently displayed?
NBA has been doing this as well. And pretty much every major stadium in America now has a major company's name adorning it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_NFL_stadiums
Lambeau is the only stadium with their original name. There's so much money in sports, and its to the point where it HAS to involve major companies. CFB is no different, and I wouldn't be surprised when it comes to CFB where stadiums are no just Ohio Stadium, Darrel K Royal Stadium, Autzen stadium, etc. But its Nationwide Ohio stadium, Apple Stadium in Austin, Nike Stadium, etc. And before fans get mad, its all our doing because we have an insatiable love for the sport and the executives know it. Recruiting(essentially wondering where teenagers will play collegiate sports) has become so popular that it is garnering billions of dollars just to guess where a 16 or 17yo will go to school and earn upwards of 6 figures a year.

I thought this new rule book they created gave a lot more teeth to the concept of buy outs?

Or am I misremembering?

I believe the buy out rule only kicks in if the player transfers after they are already enrolled at the school. They can flip to as many schools as they want during the recruiting process.

Oh, now that's a part of the rules I didn't think about. And you could be right. If that's the case, there could be a bunch of flips. But I figured something has been signed in order to commit. I doubt a player is allowed to flip if they start getting checks

Apparently it's also a legal question as to if buy out clauses in these contracts will actually be enforceable in the end.

So if I understand these new rules correctly, the schools can pay current roster employees (players) a share of revenue. There is a salary cap and the death panel to watch our for bullshit NIL deals. Right?

If I want to start poking at the does of gaming this system, what is to stop my collective from offering a signing bonus tied to a 5 year contract to play at my school, then stashing that kid at another school for the first year or two to let them develop?

Shouldn't count against my salary cap until I call them up, no?
