tOSU Recruiting Discussion

With Hinzman on board, that's probably a wrap for OL in '22 according to the interwebs.

This article at 11W breaks it down by tackle and IOL like this:
Hinzman’s commitment may wrap up the Buckeyes’ recruiting of offensive linemen in this cycle. With Hinzman in the fold, OSU now has four offensive linemen committed, as Hinzman joins George Fitzpatrick, Tegra Tshabola and Avery Henry. Henry and Fitzpatrick both profile as tackles at the collegiate level. Tshabola is probably destined to play inside at Ohio State, though Tshabola could also end up playing tackle.

I have always heard that Tshabola was a Tackle. If he is not then the talent and depth at OT is really scary. We can list it all out but this would be a couple more top 100 types for IOL and a couple more 300+ (or unranked) guys at tackle.

Options are starting to come down to Tshabola, a freshman from the '23 cycle or one of the previous fall back guys at tackle.

Yes

This year, we played 4 tackles.
Next year, provided DJones comes back, we should have a good and balanced line.
The year after, we may be looking at 4 Guards.

Now, I have been wrong before, believe it or not, but I'm not AS concerned as I would be in past years because of the portal. You're probably not getting an All-America, but I think you can find a quality starter or two by the time 2023 rolls around.

Maybe but it sure seems a lot easier to just win some recruiting battles for top talent coming out of HS.

That seems like a big pick up for the coming season.

Agreed. Not sure how many of you are aware that Western Kentucky's juggernaut offense this season was largely imported from Houston Baptist, including the OC, QB, and skill position players. The transfer players were credited with shrinking the learning curve for the rest of the offense because they could act as teachers on the field when the new offense was being installed.

Here's hoping this transfer has a similar effect.

No inside knowledge but I’d be shocked if OSU doesn’t land a transfer OT. They need it for depth at a minimum. Depending on what Dawand decides to do, they could even be a starter.
