tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Thanks for the above. It helps me to get to know who the targets are and start watching the individual threads.

No problem. But to be frank, expect to see a ton of new targets soon and the list should shift. I see a ton of offers pouring in in the next 30 days. I feel good on the following being Buckeyes: Knox, Nester, Wright, Correll, Harrison, Stover, Potter and Hickman. That is 8 players total and Knox and Wright are no gimmes, although I think they are heavy leans. Should be interesting to watch the next couple months.

There have been so many WR offers, is it just to offer and figure out it later if the guys come and camp?

To me, each class should have around 4-5 for the OL and 2-3 and DE at WR. I see OL and DE hitting the higher number
of that range while WR exceeds it at 4. So, yes the WR group will be large. If you are able to land one fairly elite guy in each group it makes a major difference. I think that is an interesting thing to note. If you land a can't miss guy in a position group the need to overload that position group isn't as high. For instance when Nick Bosa, Chase Young and NPF come in for example it's fairly safe to count on them being a 2 year starter at a minimum.

OL and can't miss is kinda bold statement to me. To me OL is the one place where there is no such thing as "can't miss" I agree with you though .. 4-5 OL every year because its such a tough position to evaluate.

It's not just bold, it's the opposite. It's by far the hardest position to evaluate, involves recruiting monsters who beat up on little children, with physiques that usually have to be broken down and built back up, and skillsets that usually involve limited or zero pass protection proficiency. And in 1v1 situations in camp, they can't simulate real football and usually get toasted by their opposition. Compare that with WRs, DBs, RBs who get a lot of practice at their skillset early on.

4-5 only works if you can trim the fat regularly with transfers. Otherwise you're tying up 20 spots with a position room that will only yield 4-7 usable players (with a few more that help on kicks, though walkons and DL also help there).

Expect a big WR and OL class.

Yep. I see likely 3-4 WR (maybe one of those being an H-Back/Curtis Samuel type), 5-6 OL, and 4 DE's. Good news is that I like us to fill up a good bit of the spots at OL and DE pretty quick with Nester, Wright and Correll, then Harrison, Stover and Potter. Then you can just take a sniper approach for elite guys. Plenty of top WR's have us at or near the top as well.

Prolly time to start a thread:

IN NEED OF A GRANT
After all of the drama that unfolded with former quarterback commit Emory Jones, Ohio State is currently evaluating a number of different players and taking its time in finding its next signal caller.

Though Allen four-star quarterback Grant Tisdale is widely believed to be the staff's top target, but that didn't stop them from offering a scholarship to another Texas gunslinger on Tuesday afternoon in Houston St. Pius X four-star quarterback Grant Gunnell
