tOSU Recruiting Discussion

93 current count
-2 NFL (Lattimore, Baugh or Samuel)
------------------
91
-2 non renewed 4th year juniors
------------------
89
-1 kicker (grayshirt or sean leaves)
------------------
88

Meaning they're 3 over with 17 commits.

88
+2 Okudah, Holmes
-----------------------
90 (19 recruits)

I think they'd add 3 more if they're the right guys, Jaylen Harris, Tufele and an OT to be named later. If Tufele (and other DTs) said no, I could see them not using the spot. There are a LOT of backup WRs and OL that aren't going to play here, and a few other spots that need to step up quickly if they haven't already planned to depart.

So I'd say 21-23 is spot on, except it might be 20-22 with Lewis returning.

I hope Lattimore moves on for his sake. The kid has earned it and in every mock I have seen, he gets selected in the 1st round. Samuel could use another season to improve his draft stock but that's it. He will be selected NLT than the 3rd. Baugh needs another year but I think he has peaked, hard to tell what happens with him.

Think there might be 3 non-renewed 4th year juniors and need to add in at least 2-3 transfers. Also, do not forget medical hardship players, maybe 1 0r 2 there. A little deductive reasoning based on depth chart, incoming freshmen, and reading multiple message boards.

All-in-all, most is speculation trying to figure out how the HC is going to make this class fit.

The elephant in the room.. is some very uncomfortable conversations coming telling the player.. you're really good but really good chance you may not see the field
Assuming almost every kid that comes to OSU on scholarship aspires to play in the NFL... scouts may never see you if you stay... but you could be seen at another...
Wouldn't have worked well for us if Hooker felt that... and there are the Nate Ebners...

Would also assume, after being here a year or two... they can see how they match up... skill-wise and effort-wise... on the field.. in the weight room... in the classroom

I've seen 6-12 projections on the transfer numbers from Brim.

Oh I see what you're saying. Idk of the exact number of players that will have "the talk", but I'm sure we can all deduce some names. I'm pretty sure those upperclassman already see the writing on the wall, as I'm sure they also follow the recruiting classes, and also know how epic this 2017 one may be...
Alex Gleitman had a chat yesterday and he thinks there will be 8-10 guys that end up transferring out.

Watching how Clemson and their athletic DLine worked us over and knowing games are won and lost in the trenches I would really love to close with a stud on one of the lines. Getting Wilson or Tufele would be huge. And we need another on the O Line too IMO. Would be so awesome to have a stud on the O Line be the proverbial late surprise.
