tOSU Recruiting Discussion

21 with Haubeil grey shirting for one semester.
Over the past three seasons, Ohio State place kickers are 40 for 57 (.702) on field goal attempts, which is subpar.

However, they are an abysmal 5 of 18 (.278) on attempts of 40+ yards, with zero attempts of 50+ yards.

By comparison, from 2002 to 2013, Ohio State place kickers made 208 of 253 attempts (.803), including 55 of 73 (.753) from 40 to 49 yards, and a respectable 18 of 32 (.563) from 50+ yards.

A blocked kick cost the Buckeyes the Penn State game, two missed field goals almost cost them the Michigan game, and two more missed field goals contributed to the Clemson loss.

I think that the Buckeyes need a competent place kicker ASAP.

I am an old fart. I want more DT's and would settle for 3 star kids with great with ethic. I'm tired of not getting the national recruits at that position and taking smaller guys who are great in pass rush but get pushed in the power run game.

Highly recommend you take a look at our depth chart. We don't need any more DT's. Wilson and Tufele are simply talents you don't say no to. I'm not going to complain about our defensive recruiting strategy given the results on the field

I'm not sure why anyone is assuming that Haubeil grayshirts. It's Sean that needs to buck the trend and rescue his career ASAP. I know he's been hurt but that's the nature of the game these days.

I'd disagree we've got a number of tweeners and some undersized DTs.. we need some true DTs

Sprinkle, Hill, Hamilton, Barrow, Garrett, Cage, Alabi, Jones, Cornell, and Landers are all DT's that will be on scholarship next season as it stands today. Not sure where you and H&G see room for more DT's but I'm don't.

FWIW, Sprinkle, Hill, Hamilton, Barrow, Alabi, and Cornell aren't undersized tweeners. The only ones who really fit that description are Jones and Landers, our 2 most disruptive DT's.

I shared your concern with the DT's prior to 2016 but not anymore after the way they played. Then when you see we lead for the nation's #1 DT in next year's class, what sense does it make in stockpiling 3 star project DT's on an already deep depth chart?

Interesting 11W article, you just never know what effects a recruit's decision as to which school to commit to.....

THE FRAGILE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RECRUITS AND UNIVERSITIES CAN BE DESTROYED WITH A TWEET OR THE DEATH OF A SINGLE HOT DOG

Let Urban Meyer and company do their job, because for one, they're a lot better at it than you are. And secondly, you don't want to end up like Tennessee (i. e. 81 Under Armour All-Americans were asked which fan base was most annoying on social media, and Tennessee was listed at No. 1 by 9 prospects.)

With the solid run the last few classes It's easy to forget the early struggles for OL recruiting for Meyer and Company. Plus some of the players we did land where a miss. As they say that is one of the hardest position groups to project....would love to see a tackle for a flip candidate signing day special.
