tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Or maybe our "slot" guys are going to be over 6' now. McLaurin seems like a nice fit there, and even Austin Mack might do well on the inside.

Both. We've got McCall for 3 more years and people tend to forget Parris Campbell is also well suited for the H. Early on, JK Dobbins could also could his teeth at the H as well.

I like they're recruiting for more natural receivers. I would be surprised if we load up on bigger, more physical RB's next year and also recruit a true H as well.

I'm liking the trajectory of the WR position though. It was badly needed....

Agree on both parts I think we're stocked with slot guys. I like the direction the WR recruiting is going... it just seemed to pivot overnight.

Agree wholeheartedly on previous several posts.

The thought of finishing with Munford and Robinson as very appealing. If by some miracle we landed one of Wilson or Tufele it would be the cherry. If we finish with just Munford and Robinson though it would be sweet. IMO we don't bring in Ellison but it might happen if the staff can fit 3 in and we whiff on the DTs or we fit only 2 more and only have Munford. Point is, IMO Ellison is hoping for the last spot and may or may not have it available. Just my 2 cents.

VIDEO: HEAR WHY THE SELECT '17 CHOSE OHIO STATE, IN THEIR OWN WORDS

proxy.jpg

Wednesday, the program published a video of testimony from early enrollees on why they chose Ohio State.

  • Five-star LB Baron Browning: "Coach Meyer. The whole time during my in-home visit we talked about 'Real Life Wednesdays.'"
  • Four-star QB Tate Martell: "My relationship with Coach Meyer. I can basically come talk to him about anything."
  • Four-star LB/WR Brendon White: "Basically, it's a family."
  • Four-star safety Isaiah Pryor: "My parents liked it. I loved it. So it made an easy decision."
  • Four-star OL Josh Myers: "It's hard for me to pinpoint one thing, because I loved everything."
  • Four-star CB Marcus Williamson: "It's a first-round standard here."
  • Five-star CB Shaun Wade: "Great coaches. I just felt comfortable here."
  • Four-star RB J.K. Dobbins "I think this place is magical."
  • Five-star CB Jeffrey Okudah: "Coach Meyer has really emphasized getting his players networked outside of football. So when you take all that into account, I don't see what school could be better for you than Ohio State."

Dang. You watch vids like that and you think anything is possible. I'll tell you this. If we don't land Tufele or Wilson it won't be for lack of trying. It's full go for these guys. And Robinson. This staff only knows how to close strong.

Robinson would be an incredible last minute addition, really hoping he hops on board...we would have incredible size down the road with Victor, Grimes, Harris and Robinson and trust me, all of those can move and bring different things to the table. And Munford is a must imo, we need another OL in this class. I would like to just get them on board asap and throw the kitchen sink at Tufele/Wilson...even one of those seems like a bit of a long shot right now but UFM has proven time and time again that he can pull guys like that off at the last second.

Robinson is a great prospect and all, but I really want to see OSU start recruiting some more "chain-movers." I think KJ Hill has this in him, but he is probably the only guy on the team or among the recruits who can find the holes in the defense around the first-down maker without running the sideline curl routes that the offense has been using ad nauseum. Robinson doesn't sound like that player. He sounds like a mix of Harris and Grimes. Of course, we could also use guys that can receive a flare or screen and take it the distance, and Robinson does seem to have that in him.

Saw this last night... i know people get bent out of shape about the recruiting rankings and most of it depends on which combine/camp/"bowl" game you go to .. but this is a bit much

247 is hurting itself by not having boots on the ground outside of the South.

The Bank always said there was no substitute for seeing a kid live in person. I agree, but I also don't do this for a living.

Even 247's Midwest guys rely on looking at highlight films and occasionally seeing kids at camps/combines. If you're paid to rank kids you shouldn't be doing it from your basement.

I figured it was something like that...Perhaps that's why they developed the composite rankings which is nice
