tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Look I know there are a ton of people concerned about OT... I trust that urban has a plan, if he and Stud feel they need another OT they will get the best guy they can. Same with RB.

Sometimes in recruiting you have to take a chance on some guys if it's late in the game sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't However you know the chances of the coach banking a scholarship is next to 0. Its big time football. We might not like it or feel comfortable but it's life.
Excellent point. I hope taking a chance happens with an OT. Coach has said there were obviously a few misses hence signing MP and Jordan starting as a true frosh. That, to me signaled emergency. We are still just steps from the ER. Heck, consider that Happy Jamarco could have left this year and will certainly be gone after next year. Depth is seriously thin. If we can take a high ranked kid, obviously take him but no possible way should we end with just 2 for the OL and neither projected as tackle, the weakest of a thin group. Munford is in a great spot and is likely the guy.

IMO we take 2 more. An OT no matter what. If Wilson or Tufele want in then there's your 2. If neither commit, the shift might be Ellison as that position group is pretty thin too. Just my view anyway.

Edit: if we take 3 more and it's one of the elite DTs and Munford I'd still push for another OT over Ellison given his injuries and the fact that Run DMC can be a true RB in a pinch.

Any chances one of the TE's we've got on board could put enough weight on and become a diamond in the rough OT like Fragel did? I was really hoping Feder would be able to get his feet to come along with his long arms and be a pass blocking savant but it hasnt happened

Earlier in the year, there was talk inside the program about Ferrell moving to OT. However, he and Hausmann improved a lot at TE during bowl practice, so for now I don't think any of the TEs will be changing positions.

Since Lindsey decommitted it seems like we have turned our focus to much focused on "taller" 6'2" and over receivers... is this an offensive philosophy change or do we think we have the slot/H position covered?

Or maybe our "slot" guys are going to be over 6' now. McLaurin seems like a nice fit there, and even Austin Mack might do well on the inside.

Both. We've got McCall for 3 more years and people tend to forget Parris Campbell is also well suited for the H. Early on, JK Dobbins could also cut his teeth at the H as well.

I like they're recruiting for more natural receivers. I would not be surprised if we load up on bigger, more physical RB's next year and also recruit a true H as well.

I'm liking the trajectory of the WR position though. It was badly needed....
