Hard to really say I'm surprised that Urban is able to get these guys to buy what he's selling each year on the recruiting front, but I can honestly say that I'm blown away with how persistent they have been this year. It seems their exceptional recruiting has only gotten better over the last few years. If he somehow snags Rashard from LA, I'm saying it now, best recruiting class ever at Ohio State. Top to bottom, this class is already filled with players who can make a huge difference early on.

I'm with you. Already might be at that level but if Lawrence comes here, I think it is definitive. Just unreal what Urban is doing.

And to think, this close out is still in play:

22. Bruce/Hardman
23. Fuller/Hamlin
24. Lawrence/King/Dioubate

* I've not kept up with Dioubate though, assume he is still a possible. I don't know if we have room for 24? If we have room in the class for 25, then 2 from the DT spots would be awesome but I know that's getting greedy. Also w/ regards to Harrison as a WR, he ranks behind the 2 listed obviously and I think I'd have to also prefer taking both DB's, 2 DTs, etc. Wildcard though is Harrison is truly an ATH. He could come in as a WR but switch as needed. Burns and Becker could be listed at DB options as well but in the case of Becker, he seems like a Nole to me.

then to think what 2017s class is going to be like and it's mind numbing to think how good we can be. Unfortunately he's also making expectations exceptionally high as well but I'm not complaining
Exactly my thoughts! This 2016 class is amazing, but think about what the 2017 class may hold! The guys that may be turned down in 2017 would still be a top 10 class! Recruiting like this ensures CFP appearances for years to come

An O-Zone nostalgic trip down "memory lane" on Ohio State recruiting:

Ranking the 10 Best Recruiting Weeks in Ohio State History (Since 2002)

As you are no doubt aware, the Buckeyes landed three blue chip prospects on Monday, as quarterback Dwayne Haskins, receiver Binjimen Victor and linebacker Keandre Jones all offered up their verbal commitments to OSU.

Even though Monday was just one day, landing three coveted recruits could very well rank as one of the best recruiting weeks in Ohio State history. And there are still six days to go.

10. December 12-18, 2004: James Laurinaitis, Anderson Russell
James Laurinaitis is the most decorated linebacker in Ohio State history. He was a three-year starter who led the Buckeyes in tackles in each of his final three seasons. He was a finalist 12 times for national awards during that three-year period. He won the Nagurski and Butkus Awards and was a three-time All-American. Anderson Russell was a starter for over two seasons.

9. May 30, 2010 - June 5, 2010: Braxton Miller, Evan Spencer
15-01-01-FB-2483-DH.jpg

This is probably one of the more forgotten about weeks, assuming people actually make mental notes of "recruiting weeks". Braxton Miller was a two-time Silver Football Award winner and Evan Spencer was only the MVP of the 2014 National Championship team.

2. January 28, 2002 - February 3, 2002: Bobby Carpenter, Santonio Holmes, Nate Salley, Quinn Pitcock

On this week Jim Tressel landed two First Round picks in Bobby Carpenter and Santonio Holmes, an All-Big Ten safety in Nate Salley, and an All-American defensive tackle in Quinn Pitcock. There is no topping this week. Or is there?

1. January 29, 2002 - February 4, 2002: Troy Smith, Bobby Carpenter, Santonio Holmes

TroySmithHeismanTrophy.jpg

Okay, so this is the reason this list went to 11, because it's kind of a wonky situation. In an eight-day span, Jim Tressel got commitments from the four players mentioned above, and a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback. However, only Troy Smith, Santonio Holmes and Bobby Carpenter happened in the same week, but any time you can land two First Round picks and a Heisman Trophy winner, that kind of trumps everything else, doesn't it?

So trying in vain to figure out the final number. We have 21 commits but only 20 for 2016 since I believe it's been stated by Chrisman that he would grey shirt. So that leaves 3 to 5 positions open if we go up to 25.....

We do this every year. I don't think the class size can be figured out by anyone other than the coaching staff at this point, and they may not even have a crystal clear picture for awhile.

Ideal finish IMO: two DTs (Lawrence & King), two DBs (Hamlin & Fuller), and a WR/ATH (Hardman or Bruce). Would be overjoyed with nothing more than a single additional DT to go with Barrow, however, and would have no complaint whatsoever about any of the other prospects still in play. We are so spoiled.

Don't think they are looking at 2 DTs. I think it's an either/or between Lawrence and King. Seems the staff wants 1 DT, 2 DBs, 1 ATH and Harrison.
So Bruce and the new guy from GA are viewed as ATH? Also if you could some how take both as you asked the other day?? How do you handle that? Agree on 2 DBs. As much as everyone talks DT shortage, the secondary scares me most. Especially safety. On that, who projects at CB and who at S from current verbals and remaining prospects?

I'm not sure what the answer is to be honest...but it's a great problem to have.
