tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Lots of familiar names but it is remarkable that services simply refuse to rank any Ohioan in the top 30 these days. EGW and Hilliard are both verified top 30 players imo.

I hesitate to inject this into a recruiting thread, but that is yet another part of the pro-SEC bias that ESPN continuously plugs.

[ESPN] The SEC is the best because all the best players go there, all the best players go there because the SEC is the best [/ESPN]

which is similar to

[ESPN] The SEC is the toughest conference because they play ranked teams every week, all SEC teams deserve to be ranked every week because they play in the toughest conference [/ESPN]

Just several of many self perpetuating cycles of bias that ESPN has come up with thanks to their significant financial ties to the SE.

EDIT: 14 of their top 30 are from GA or FL. 21 of their top 30 are from south of the Mason Dixon line, 4 are from TX or OK, 2 are from CA, 2 from the Midwest and 1 from NJ.

That just seems insane to me.

Very true and if we need to split this, so be it. It is just yet another depiction of the ridiculous $EC bias. The only time they really seem to rank a player in that top tier from the north is when it is so ridiculously obvious (Jashon Cornell), or when that player from the north decides to take his talents to the SEC. The idea that overall abundance of talent in the south is likely tenable, but the idea that only top-tier talent comes from the south is not.

According to the good people at Stadium and Main, UM expects 60 recruits for the game. It could turn out to be a nice showcase for OSU. I have trouble believing the opening line is only 14.

How in the world could they find a way to get that many recruits to watch a one sided game?
