tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I've seen speculation that FUMA might be in EGW's future. That route has worked out well for a few notable Buckeyes in the past and if it comes to that hopefully it will help EGW as well.

Looking ahead to '16, everything you say about EGW complimenting Scott and Harris applies equally well to Hill and McCall.

Interesting. I was told his grades are in order and his major issues right now are discipline related. A highly touted kid like that? I'd expect MSU to make a hard run at him should OSU pull out of the running.

I was thinking that with the Feder commitment, there may be an interest in taking 5 OL. Don't get me wrong, I am stoked about the Feder commitment, but he is the definition of a project with just now moving to tackle...I think taking another pure tackle is a good idea. With the guys we are in on now, I could definitely see us taking 5 if they are the right 5. Any combination of Schmidt and Feder along with Richmond, Prince, Daniels, Dyer, Burrell, Allen, or James.

Personally, I would like Richmond, Burrell, and Daniels, but really I wouldn't be incredibly choosey with that list. Any of Schmidt, Burrell, Allen, and Dyer can be moved inside and Daniels is purely an inside guy. Not sure what the exact numbers are for the other positions and I know that we took 5 last year, but the classes before were pretty thin on OL, so perhaps there is room.

From the Dwayne Haskins Jr. thread:

LOVE this kid. Top of my QB board by a hair. Pass, Henry and McIlwain are all right there as well, Can't wait to see some junior film of Haskins.
I am extremely happy that the staff has already seen all four throw in person because it would be difficult to rank them based on what we as casual (some more than others) observers know.

I'm curious if the staff will choose one to pursue above the others or if they rank 2-4 of them closely enough to have a first come first serve mentality and encourage an early commitment from one of them.

Haskins seems the most likely by far to commit early if that is the case. Either way, if you trust the staff (and doubt from QB recruiting in '14 and '15 lingers a little bit here) you have to believe that OSU is going to end up with a VERY good QB in the '16 class.

My ideal OL class right now is Schmidt, Feder, Burrell and Daniels. Richmond, Allen or Prince would be a bonus...guys you don't turn away. I think four is the number in this class...although I agree that it could be five if it's the right five (i.e. another guaranteed tackle).
Sounds good to me.

Doubt from 2015 QB recruiting? How so?

I would only substitute Burrell for Richmond (just ideally, everything has been quiet with Richmond and I have no idea where we stand now) but I agree on the guys you don't turn away if it is a fifth. I thought four was the number for sure but once we got Feder, that changed my thinking. And fwiw, I see Burrell in this class...my most likely list is Schmidt, Feder, Burrell, Daniels, and Allen.
