Taking a Closer Look at OSU's In-State Commits and Prospects
By Tony Gerdeman
The Buckeyes currently have 19 commitments in the 2013 class, nine of whom are from Ohio. Now that the high school football season is over, we thought it would be a good time to check back in with our resident Ohio football scout John McCallister. He runs the McCallister Scouting Report, which provides scouting reports to numerous colleges all over the country.
Today, we will start with defense, of which there are currently seven commits from Ohio, and have included another prospect who could end up in the class as well. We also look ahead to the 2014 class, with a pair of linebackers who have already received offers from Ohio State.
Contd.....
We've already talked about the in-state defensive prospects that the Buckeyes have landed or offered to this point, so now it's time to look at the other side of the ball.
There isn't a large number of in-state prospects on offense with offers yet, but there is certainly some elite talent in the next few classes according to John McCallister.
Things are still very early for the 2014 class, so there will be more names added to these lists in the coming months.
"He is one of the best true football players in Ohio. He's tough, he's got excellent closing speed. He's got good hips, he runs fast, he can play wide receiver or defensive back. Or even outside linebacker eventually. I just think he's one of the best players. He's just a tough guy. He's a very, very good football player. He can run. He's fast with excellent burst. An excellent ball catcher. Excellent hips. Excellent range. I saw him run a kickoff back in 11 seconds. He changes direction well. Most of all, he's physical."
He was a 2012 graduate of Thomas Worthington. Because the Buckeyes had just taken Bryce Haynes the year before, they didn't go after him. He ended up choosing Tennessee over WVU, Purdue and South Carolina. He left Tennessee before the season and became a gray shirt. Now with him being a 2013 recruit, OSU was interested in him again. He chose the Buckeyes over South Carolina this time around. He was rated the #12 LS in the 2012 class by Chris Rubio, who specializes in special teams camps.

Well the way you get around the dead period in San Antonio is to just FAX well-wishes to the hotel.

So far it's Sprinkle, Burrows, Lewis, Woodard and Barrett.
