Game Thread tOSU at Wiscy, Nov 17th, 3:30 ABC

As is my habit the Sunday after a win, I spent some time looking through the Big Ten scout boards. Lots of complaints on the Badger board about the refs in general and the lack of offensive holding on Millers run in OT.

Just my opinion, but Badger fans complaining about offensive holding is the definition of ironic.

I was more upset over the non-PI call in the first quarter where the Wisconsin WR got tackled.

And by "upset" I mean I forgot about it 5 minutes later. Complaining about the refs after a loss is for losers, regardless of the fan base. It was a damn good game, and I'll leave it at that.

It was a very good game to watch, very entertaining, kudos to our Buckeyes for bringing home the win! Considering we were playing not to lose most of the game and that, over the years, we've often lost focus the week before "the game", I think this was an outstanding win! We have a lot of holes in our team and we obviously have a lot of learning to do. However, as Bill Parcels once said "you are what your record says you are." We're undefeated baby! :osu:

GO BUCKS!!!

Braxton is still a bottom of the barrel passing quarterback. On the deep ball he threw out of the back of the endzone, Philly beat his man by a few steps on the inside seam route, but Braxton tried to get it to Spencer. It's unfair to put all the blame on the receivers, as Miller has to pull the trigger and recognize where to go with the ball.
Bottom of the barrel? Even after yesterday's subpar passing performance, he's 49th in the country in passing efficiency with a 137.12 rating.

I thought Herman called a fine game for the most part, but I'm with everyone else that has said Hyde needed more carries. He was putting up 6/7 ypc for most of the game and Miller barely had 2 ypc. The offense early on was pretty effective. If Stoney doesn't lose that early ball in the sun and if Miller leads Heuerman better on a couple routes to the flats so he doesn't fall down making the catch, the game could've been completely different.
The majority of us here disagree with the first statement. Once Wiscy adjusted early to our called QB runs, those ruins become totally ineffective, yet we kept trying to run them.

So many drives stalled out in Wisconsin territory, it was bizarre. I put it more on Miller than Herman today. But as always, a win is a win!
It's the job of the OC to help put the QB in a better position to be effective. Granted, even with Stoneburner's drop, Miller was still 12-20 (60%). We just didn't go down field with the pass often enough to soften up Wiscy's run defense...and a lot of that was with the "what the fuck was that?" routes our WRs were running.

Scoring only seven offensive points and gaining 211 yards in total offense in regulation against any opponent is unfucking acceptable. A shit-ton of the blame for yesterday had to fall on Herman.

A few thoughts:
1) That gif is the defintion of Big Ten football right there.
2) Great play by Shazier to knock it out. I read he had studied tape of Ball the whole week and noticed he liked to go up top in some cases. That's called doing your homework.
3) I mentioned this before, but what a heads-up play by Wisconsin OL Rob Havenstein (#78) to grab Christian Bryant's jersey and make a game-saving tackle. If he doesn't think to do that, Bryant houses it and it's game over.

Am I the only one that's still a bit pissed about the refs giving Bucky a new play clock to take that 1 second off when there was 1 second left and they weren't lined up?

Probably.

The umpire was still over the ball, it's not like Wisconsin could have snapped it even if they were lined up.

Probably not, but whining is badger/lion/scUM work, so you might just want to leave it to them
