Game Thread tOSU at Wisconsin, Sat, Oct 16, 7:00 ET; ESPN

This loss stings, but I just couldn't get too angry about it last night, nor this morning for that matter. If we would have came out in the second half and continued to get knocked around, I'm sure I'd be a lot more frustrated about it. However, I'm still under the impression that we all witnessed an amazing comeback that came down to one clutch third down conversion by Wiscy.

When it came time to 'Jump Around' heading into the 4th quarter -- we had them on their heels. We knew it, their fans knew it, Gameday knew it. I felt like the W was going to be ours. They had been pounding it on the ground all night long and suddenly they felt the need to switch it up. Why? Fear. Our grip on the throat was tightening and they were shocked. The huge deficit was wiped away and they were starting to get a taste of how we felt in the first half. I'm still surprised that they didn't throw a pick or at least a pass that was way off target on that play, because you could feel it in the air.

I fully believe that conversion gave them the sigh of relief they needed to close the game out the way they did. I still wonder how much air deflates out of the tires if they're forced to punt on that series.

Regardless, a loss is a loss. Still hurts. For all those saying we weren't the number one team in the nation and don't deserve to be there? Well, Dane played like he belonged on the #1 team going to the NC. He's been playing that way. Last night's game ball and every other game ball for the rest of the season can go to him as far as I'm concerned.

As much as I hate losing, especially when our NC hopes may be down the drain:

- Bilema deserved a win over OSU at some point. Great program. Great athletes.
- Even though we're not #1 in the B10, its great to see Michigan State in the drivers seat. Little brother is doing all the right things right now.
- If OSU goes to another Rose Bowl, what does Tressel get if he wins another one? A 2nd Mustang?

This is just me, but I loved the 2 point conversion/throwback.

Unfortunately, I also thought the 1-10 play-action toss to the TE by Wisconsin (their only pass to the TE all game) was brilliant.

It's always a great day to be a Buckeye...:osu:

Their strength was better than our strength, and that's very disappointing.

Eh, seems we ran into a perfect storm. They were far hungrier than us, with what seemed like a team specifically built to beat us. That's the kind of shit that happens when you win five straight conference titles.

Is strength and conditioning a problem? The defense is riddled with injuries. It seems to me that we have had more season-ending injuries this year and several players are playing hurt. I know in a Big Ten season, injuries mount and people play hurt, but depth was certainly an issue yesterday.

I don't know.

I think they've been very lucky with injuries in the past couple seasons so maybe the law of averages caught up this year?

Still disappointing how they manhandled our d-line like they were kids for a lot of that game. Our d-line is supposed to be the best in the country and they had holes I could've ran through.

Very disappointing.

Don't know if this has been added, but I was troubled with the beginning of the 4th quarter.

When they pan across the field from the blimp, you could see a lot of the Buckeyes "jumping around" and having fun. Wisconsin players? Standing on their sidelines, ready to play football.

Given what I saw on Twitter this past week (I know...), this seemed to indicate a level of immaturity and lack of focus. Is it possible to have fun in the moment? Absolutely. But behind on the scoreboard in a game that you've been playing poorly in (except for the third quarter... so there's that)? I'm not sure that would be the moment to step away from business.

As always, I'm probably making too much of this- Day after quarterbacking, and all that. And, it's probable that I'm way off base.

But thems my thoughts, for what it's worth.

:oh:

Figured I would cool down before I posted. We got sloberknocked up and down the field, for 4 quarters. They were the aggressors and they set the tone in the first 5 minutes. Our defensive line is not all it is cracked up to be and that was exposed last night. A good defensive line will make the stop when you need it. Oddly enough, we usually are better suited at stopping run teams like Wisconsin but we actually may be better suited against spread teams this year imo. We've still got a ton of speed but the physical run game wore us down.

On offense...I don't really put too much blame on them. The special teams and defense never really gave them much to feed off of. Too bad we couldn't get our run identity early in the game with Boom. On that note, Boom was the player of the game in my books...he ran like he was strait [censored]ed.

Special teams...what can I say. Huge disappointment. The kicking game, coverage, everything. I know it was just 1 score, but that return on the road really hurt us. I don't see it getting fixed this year.

Overall...tough loss but as many others have said, I was worried about this game in the beginning. Still lots of football left in the year and we still have a great team, but we have a lot of work to do.

I couldn't agree more, he sets an example to this team and future teams. Play with your heart and give it everything you have. He has earned his scholarship many times over. He is a true Buckeye leader.

You can put Boom on that list for me. Regardless of if holes open up for him or not he goes out there and puts in his 110% and runs hard. Same thing with BRolle on defense.

I kind of feel like our defense has finally been built to stop the spread offenses that torched us. Like Bucklye said we just ran against the perfect storm last night, Wisconsin punched us right in the mouth and when we got our whits about us it was to damn late.
