Game Thread tOSU at Wisconsin, Sat, Oct 16, 7:00 ET; ESPN

I can't help but think of the folks who always deride Tressel/Bollman for coming out conservative and running so-called vanilla run plays to open the game. I wonder if those people will remember how long it was before Herron even got a touch in this game. As far as I'm concerned, opening up the offense is overrated and the coaches knowing what really makes this team's offense go is vastly underrated. That's especially true when the run game doesn't come out firing on all cylinders or when they at least need to show it so they can counter off it.

Particularly when Wisconsin proved to be extremely vulnerable to runs tonight.

Well said. Rose bowl hopes are still great. Bigger possibilities could be awaiting as well. This is college football after all.

Not with an undefeated MSU team who we don't play.

Our favorite teams the rest of the way should be:
1. The Bucks
1a. Whomever is playing sparty

True, but the same can happen to MSU. Sparty will be Sparty.

If the Buckeyes want a Rose Bowl bid, and maybe even a BCS bid, they need the following to happen:
1. Win out
2. Michigan State to lose twice (they get the nod in a tie because Ohio State has had the more recent Rose Bowl appearance)
3. Wisconsin to lose once (they get the nod in a tie because of head-to-head)

Well, the way I see it we're in the same boat as 'Bama.

If we win out, knock off and undefeated Sparty in the BigTen championship game out at Lucas Oil Stadium and end the regular season 12-1 we've got a pretty good shot at slipping back into the picture, no? :wink2::biggrin:

The bolded part is not true anymore. The relevant tiebreaker would be the BCS standings. The higher ranked team in the BCS would be the representative.

Also, Wisky needs to lose twice because the Buckeyes lost head-to-head

To reset:

  1. Win out.
  2. Michigan State must at least lose once AND finish lower than the Buckeyes in the BCS standings.
  3. Wisconsin must lose twice.

Seriously though.

The parallels with this game and the 'Cocks/Tide game should not be overlooked.

Just watch how much the bias changes things.

Both teams looked out of it by halftime and battled back within 1 score just to be gently pushed aside at the end. Both teams lost to a team whose only loss came to another undefeated team within the conference. If Wisky somehow manages to choke away next week's game to Iowa just pay attention to how much different the pollsters and the media treat the Buckeyes in comparison to the Tide. Sure SOS is a factor, but I doubt it will cover the drastic difference we're going to see.
