To me, Pryor looked tentative for the entire first half - as if he just wasn't quite ready to be the true leader of the offense against a good Big Ten team on the road.

I didn't mean to express anything that opposes this. In fact, I very much agree.

As much as it pains me to say, Pryor still isn't quite to the point where he can be the go-to guy against good teams. He needs to play off of the running game and broken plays to make an impact against good teams and good defenses.

I agree that TP isn't yet THE guy. He is however THE leader and that shows. Especially tonight. When he was on, the offense clicked. When he was off, the offense didn't. Last year, I don't think he was really capable of carrying the team at this point in the season. This year I think he's capable of carrying the team, he's just not yet executing at the level to do it.

I wonder if Grad's ban stats tonight matched the Purdue game. He must have been a busy guy, because the flow of the posts in the entire game thread were very reasonable over all...

...unlike the nuclear meltdown cluster[censored] that is tonight's Gator board.

Nah, just when folks had enough and bashed players or coaches. Not even close to Purdue

Kick off coverage killed us and started them in the best possible position, a lead. Bad game to get exposed, again. We just can't keep kicking deep in important games.
Defense got out played in first half and Wiscy did their thing.
Defense played much better second half even without Homan.
Our offense did some good things but we were playing too far behind in this kind of game.
But our running game looked better tonight. That's a good thing.
TP didn't have the help he needed from his receivers. And TP's passes were off also.
This is still a very good team but everything is up in the air, now.

Why did we punt with 6 minutes left and down two possessions? I quit watching at that point...

I love Tressel and i think he is an amazing coach but sometimes i just dont understand how passive some of his calls are. I seriously didnt get the soft CB coverage at the line, i think they really need to man-up and learn to play man to man better. I think pryor still has a ways to go in passing into tight spots..It seems like they avoided the passing game in the red zone (although that 2-pt pass was awesome)

I don't understand how you can second guess Tressel there. That call to punt worked out. They got the ball back and were driving in practically the same situation they would have been otherwise, needing a TD and an onside kick.

I can't help but think of the folks who always deride Tressel/Bollman for coming out conservative and running so-called vanilla run plays to open the game. I wonder if those people will remember how long it was before Herron even got a touch in this game. As far as I'm concerned, opening up the offense is overrated and the coaches knowing what really makes this team's offense go is vastly underrated. That's especially true when the run game doesn't come out firing on all cylinders or when they at least need to show it so they can counter off it.

Made sense to me (for what that's worth). We really needed a TO and an offensive score. Don't get the score, and the D only has half a field to get that TO, with field possession such that Wiscy was more likely to score again. Punt, and the D has the whole field to fight for the TO, and the O will still have another shot at the ball later on.
