Up 21 points in the 3rd quarter, ANY Ohio State team should be able to win without any further contributions from the offense.

THIS^^^

BTW it's not the Defenses fault the went 3 and out just about every possession in the 2nd half.

Yes it is on the coaches for not figuring out that JB is NOT A FUCKING DIVI QB!!!

JFC

add to this the fact that screens and bringing the TE across he formation just disappeared...what. the. fuck.

my 9 year old could do a better job playcalling.

seriously. he called every offensive play after Brax went down. that is pathetic. disappointing. inconceivable.

I don't care how tired they are. They had very little to do for the first 2.5 quarters. The defense lost this game, not Joe Bauserman.

Did Joe play well? Absolutely not. Did the defense completely implode? Yes.

I never said Joe played well, he was his typical self.

Come on man. If you've ever played ANY sports, you have to somehow understand how tired they have to be. When did they start to get manhandled? Shortly after the offense stopped moving the ball. Again, its not just the defense or offense's fault. It was both collectively.

The recruiting ripple effect of a season like this with the types of ineptitude we've seen can seriously set a team back half a decade. Not even exaggerating.

Unless a big name is hired on as the next HC. What teenager wouldn't want to play for the "big name" at a Premiere Program?

How the hell were these guys on D tired... I could understand Miami & MSU.... but they weren't on the field that much in the first half... they should have had close to full tanks for the 2nd half....

Everyone is pointing to Baus coming in as when the "D" gave up...

The drive before Brax got injured, he fumbled to end the drive. It gave Nebraska a short field, and UNL scored in 2 plays. A 6 yard run and an 18 yard run. THAT was the momentum swing. OSU's defense gave up 6 points in 8 drives (including a 3 yard FG drive) before that. After that, UNL ran it down OSU's throat. They weren't the same after that short field TD

Suppose I have to be careful how I put this, but all I can say is that as I was watching with Miller in there, I felt the offense could move down the field at some point in the rest of the game, no matter what he did the previous possession. When Bauserman eentered the game, the first thing I said to my wife was "27 had better be enough, because we will not under any circumstances be able to score any more".

The fact Guiton isn't even getting any kind of look is criminal. I don't want to hear "we aren't at practice" anymore. When the offense repeatedly performs horribly with the same guy at the helm, it's time for something else.

Thanks for keeping your heads, folks.

I have to be honest, I gave us no chance of winning this game (before KO). I think we have the players, just saw no reason to expect any execution. So for one half I was shocked, and wore the biggest grin on my face.

The David strip reminded me of Clarett's in the title game, not in style, but in terms of impact. Then once Brax went out, I settled in for a long cold winter. I thought/hoped we could just ride it out, but man did Lincoln and the Huskers ride an astonishing amount of momentum, and our D was gassed and/or losing the ball in Neb's (in the second half) very quick and crisp option looks, and just couldn't lock it down. The good news, and I think it's great news, is I think we've found the start of an offensive identity and some confidence with our young QB. I mean, I just didn't expect anything like the first half. It wasn't pretty, but it was effective and even fun to watch. The second half? Lol, well what's to say. Nebraska is much better than we are without Boom, without Posey, without Pryor *and* Miller. I'm left wondering what's wrong with Guiton. I'm left wondering why and how the coaches got extremely pass happy with a cold and long-struggling Bauserman. Part of me wants to rage about the guy, but he came in when he shouldn't have had to and did his best -- not everyone's best is good enough. His wasn't this week, so it goes. Tough time and place in the game for him to come in, tougher still given our curious dismissal of what had been a pretty effective rushing attack.

There are games your young teams learns from, and this has to be one of them. I'd probably be losing my shit right now had I actually expected this game to be competitive before kick-off, but this year it feels like you really have to grab onto and hold the positives, and that first half was a big one that gives me some hope for the rest of the season.

Welcome to the B1G, Huskers. At our worst (in a long, long time) we still gave you a game (and then some) in your house. Looking forward to inviting you into ours next year. Great team, generally fantastic fans.

BTW, the Andrew Luck comment a page or two back -- lol.

Hang in there, BPers. We knew this was going to be a long and cold season. At least there are suggestions of future promise.

Don't want to see any bans tonight or tomorrow. Night, all.

Yeah. Saying everyone gave up and that Baus was bad ignores the great job the Corn coaches did and the fact that his recievers were blanketed.

The lack of screens and simple drags to Stoney I can't get either.

And your post ignores the fact that the OSU coaches didn't perform as well and that the receivers weren't blanketed (rewatch Joe's picked, and you'll see that Philly had the Neb DB beaten by at least 3 yards, but Joe under threw him).

I don't agree, guys, that it was all Bauserman that lost you guys this game. There are two plays specifically that I can point to that turned the mo back in our favor:

David's strip of Miller
Miller going down.

That being said - you guys were running with Hyde. He was gashing us in the first quarter. It looks more to me like you guys got gassed in the third and never recovered.

Another thing that killed you guys was, for some odd reason, Fickell got away from the run and insisted that Bauserman throw the ball down the field instead of going with the 10 - 15 yard ranges that were killing us in the first half. Once we started getting those three and outs, it was over.

It probably takes a lot of energy to be the offense when you're actually a defense. I said it last week - the defense has a better shot of scoring than the offense when Bauserman is playing.

I was being sarcastic at the time, but....

It's funny how everyone used to bitch about "Tressel ball"...well Tressel ball never would have lost this game.

They didn't tackle for [Mark May] after Nebraska scored their first TD. And there were zero adjustments on defense. Martinez rolled out out at will and Burkhead got all his gains running to the outside. We were getting seal-blocked all over the place.

Hmm, that's funny. I didn't know the d staying on the field most of the 2nd half is good for stamina? 3 and outs, turnovers and not moving the ball will put the d in a bad situation. No matter who is out there. We need to get Kenny in to the backup position and that's it. More than plenty agree.
