Game Thread tOSU at Nebraska, Sat October 8, 2011, 8 pm ET, ABC

While I agree with you, you can't have the defense on the field for 25 of the last 30 minutes. I'd bet 99 of 100 times that team will come back to win just because of defensive exhaustion

They'd had 2 second half 3-and-outs prior to the Miller fumble. After that:

2 plays, 23 yards, touchdown
7 plays, 82 yards, touchdown
5 plays, 24 yards, punt
7 plays, 72 yards, touchdown
4 plays, 78 yards, touchdown

These weren't gut-wrenching exhausting 16-play drives (ala Illinois or LSU 2007) where UNL wore them down. They got absolutely gashed repeatedly.

I'm not arguing that the offense helped them at all. Not even a bit. But I just can't place the blame on the offense when the defense implodes so dramatically.

How can anyone say the d lost the game? Once again, they played tough. The defense doesn't over throw receivers horribly, the defense doesn't stop the offense from moving the ball, the defense doesn't throw picks into double coverage. The d is expected to give up points, a 5th year senior is expected to move the ball. If he doesn't, put in someone who does. 1 for 12 is not a great QB, so sorry for all who think that is.

Who the hell is arguing that he is a great QB?

That's still means it is a defense problem.

I don't disagree. But it's just another reason why he should not play another meaningful snap this season.

There are too many reasons, sadly, yet I have no faith in any changes. This staff confuses the hell out of me. They manage to do it even more every week. I'm curious yet scared of what the next mindfuck will be.

Seriously, I'm sick of you guys saying how can they be tired?? When an offense has the ball for about 25 of 30 minutes in the second half, doesn't matter who you are, they're gonna be tired.

Have you guys never played any sports? I said this in my first post, it's not all being exhaustion, it's getting our asses handed to us in general on defense. But seriously try playing defense for 25 minutes in one half, it's exhausting

Obviously a debilitating loss. Like many have mentioned, I think there is equal blame to go around. The second half was one of the more painful experiences I have had as a fan. I think what bothers me the most is what seems like an inability to make adjustments on offense or defense. Maybe throw a blitz or two in on defense and give the ball to Hyde on offense. Not a whole lot of positives to take from this game, but as an optimist, I'll try and list a few.

Positives:
Hyde is a baller, great speed, toughness, size etc
Bradley Roby is going to be special
Braxton Miller is the quarterback of a promising future
Offensive line played much better - Adams was a big boost
Basil and Buchannan are big assets
Played one great half of football (better than no great halves)

This really seems to be the ultimate Murphy's Law team though. Sometimes it happens. Whatever bad can happen seemingly happens. Pryor, Posey, Herron, Adams + no Nate Williams, Storm Klein getting hurt in this game, Braxton getting hurt etc etc. I feel bad for the seniors affected by all of this who have never done anything wrong. I can't imagine how much that stinks.

No matter the score, I'll always support the Bucks and I hope that brighter days are ahead.

I don't disagree with Bauserman's performance, but at Ohio State the defense should be able to bring home a win when given a 21-point second half lead even without any further contributions from the offense.

Total collapse on both sides of the ball was needed to blow a 27-6 third quarter lead...that's on the coaches.

Unless a big name is hired on as the next HC. What teenager wouldn't want to play for the "big name" at a Premiere Program?

Every new coach gets a recruiting bump as he comes to "save" the team. Doesn't matter who they hire in the short term. In the medium to long term...it's about results

Offense? Defense?

Its all tied together. Like the guy mentioned a few post back...When a defense is on the field that long for a half its not going to be a pretty sight. I don't get into the whole momentum thing either. Braxton's fumble did not cause this mess.

I know I may be one of the few...I was laughing most of the 2nd half when bauserman was in. Its not good when everytime you see the guy step back to pass that you are expecting some kind of negative play.

Tumultuous offseason, losing JT, youth on both sides of the ball, and a rookie head coach who is far from ready for the position. It's a perfect [Mark May] storm, really.

But, I will still be trotting out in the Scarlet and Gray and continue my pagan rituals to ensure another ass raping of the skunkweasels in November :oh:

If this game had just gone the way I think most of us expected......I could have gone to bed "calm as a Hindu cow" (name that movie). Now I'm all pissed off and my wife's already fallen asleep so I can't get rid of some of this pent up energy.
