I didn't say there were many better. I have no idea who half those guys even are.

My point was, no matter where he stands relative to his B1G peers, Morgan is about as average/pedestrian/game manager of a QB as they come.

Before the game, I said that Day needs to be ready to bench Stroud, if it's obvious that he isn't the guy. During the game, I never thought that Stroud should be benched. But I bet if Ohio State went down 24-14, I probably would have thought that it was time. I think Stroud played at least as well as Barrett did in his first game. He has a ways to go, but he's starting out in a pretty good spot.

admittedly I was cranky, tired and had played poorly in a soccer match earlier so my judgement mighta be shaded

So I like looking at the other teams' message boards during games, sometimes. Minnesota has one called something like "7 national championships". And it was pretty good. I was BWI game-time good. I'm not talking about the "Jerry Sandusky is innocent" kind of good. But it was "I hate the Big Ten" and "These referees suck" kind of good.

I can understand why they were annoyed about the non-targeting call at the end of the game - I've seen less than that called for targeting and upheld. I've also seen more brutal hits to the head not called. So I can't speak to that - it's such a strange judgment call that I can never figure out if it will be called.
They grumbled about holding on Ohio State not being called. I don't care - Minnesota was holding and they weren't calling it.
They grumbled about DPI not being called against Ohio State. I would have said, "They were consistent both ways," but I don't remember any of Stroud's passes thrown into coverage - Ohio State had wide open receivers all night. By the way, their second touchdown was helped by a DPI called - I thought the play before should have been called for DPI, but the play that was called was less interference.

By the way, BWI was also "BWI game-time good". It was full of "Big Ten is helping Ohio State get to the playoffs" theories.

Wypler is the unsung hero from last night. Stepping in a C for Miller and I only counted 1 bad snap.

CJ is one cool customer. He never looked rattled and always maintained composure and control. He's the guy going forward

Minny QB Morgan had a good game. He delivered those quick-hitting crossing routes with authority.

I was sorry to see Ibrahim out, he's a good one.

OSU's defense needs to improve. Yes, that is insightful, I know.

I don't feel nearly as confident going undefeated as I did yesterday morning.
I feel like I bought how fab this years D would be hook line and sinker... and it was unspectacular... with some exceptions
Our tackling is very concerning.. we need to recruit more football/wrestlers

I kept telling myself "Zone 6 will bail our asses out"

I get that the strategy was to get a whole bunch of folks into this game
but some very big names were pretty underwhelming

That is one seriously bad ass OL

They also missed / ignored a blatant block in the back that sprung Olave on the game ending TD. It was literally right on front of the camera as Olave was tip-toeing down the sideline.

OK, just read the whole thread... first let me say... damn about a dozen of you must be absolutely miserable company to watch a game with; negative, angry, pessimists.. good lord do you even enjoy the game?

I hope minny didnt blow their whole wad vs us. the way they played last night looked like a 10 win team. but with that rb gone and teams having film on that 8 Olinemen bs i wonder if the rest of their season is far less impressive.

All of you who get overly negative on Stroud early, i sincerely hope you feel extremely stupid today.

i understand being concerned about Coombs but man some of you seem to have a personal vendetta. that team was extremely young and missing its two starting cbs for the game against a extremely hyped team that was using formations we didnt expect and wont see again this season. the D needs to improve but maybe take a few breathes. there were some nice flashes from the young pups in a rain storm in their first game.

we have 2 first team all big10 caliber running backs, wow those guys were great.

hopefully the weather is better next week, i wanna see more touches for ruck and fleming and jsn ect ect.

I fully anticipate the usual "OSU was our Super Bowl and we lost" cratering event. If Ibrahim is out, they've got nothing. By the end of the year, this game will be held against OSU in the beauty pageant discussions imo.

As far as the youth on defense excuse, they looked exactly the same as the experienced defense from last year. I even saw Tuf Eichenberg/Tommy Boreland walk out to hopelessly attempt to cover his guy man to man a couple of times early. Only thing that kept it from the same kind of score we saw against Bama was the extreme lack of talent on Minny's offense.

I sincerely hope there is big improvement through the year but at this point I'll shocked if it happens. I'm with Coombs where I was with Tressel after the USC game in 2008. My faith is gone.
