tOSU at Illinois, November 28th, Cancelled

I'm getting to the point that I'm just kinda done with this "season."

I haven’t been anywhere near as into the season as I usually am. I was half expecting they wouldn’t have a season in the first place. I’m always excited to see OSU play, but if they blew the season up, I wouldn’t be upset about it. Just too many distractions and interruptions.

Same. I've been in "take what I can get" mode since they announced they would play, but it's getting worse and worse. If we were to play Illinois shorthanded, after flying in 2 hours before game time without the head coach and lose, in what world does that actually count? This isn't a season, it's an abbreviated exhibition.

2020 has sapped my interest and enthusiasm for sports in general. In the grand scheme of things, they’re just not that important to me anymore.

Imaginging 70 travel squad guys on the tarmac waiting to hear their results at 7am before flying out to fucking Champaign at the end of November.

Individual Uber rides back for those that don’t make the cut. Godspeed to everyone else.

So they're going to play on no sleep? Does anyone have any fucking common sense in the B1G?

Unless they are going to stay up as a team until 5 or 6am, saying no sleep doesn't make sense.

It's an 11AM kick in Illinois. Figure they will fly out at 7 or 8AM, it's a chartered flight so probably at 6AM wakeup call. Not the usual thing but not super awful. A disciplined team takes it in stride and gets to bed early tonight.

If that's the case then you're right, that's not so bad

And so is everyone who gets it from that person. This includes Illinois if we play that game. I know we tend to only care about ourselves and the impact on our team but Illinois shouldn’t want this game to be played.

I guess if that’s how you want to interpret what I typed, I can’t help you much, but I’ll try.

The point is, even with testing on Saturday morning, there are kids who will test negative and could still be positive or carriers who develop between test and playing. Ultimately, the horse left the barn with the first carrier in the Woody. Testing, while likely able to minimize the impact, is not foolproof. And it won’t be out of the Woody until well after tsun week.

But thanks for suggesting I was thinking only of us.

Flying in to Champaign morning of an 11am local kick.

If the Bucks play, I think they win but this is setting up to be uglier than the usual roadie to Illinois.

I’m not sure it happens to be honest.

Yeah I don't know that is even feasible...even if they do play, I don't know how you play even close to your best under those circumstances. No sleep, early start, no head coach, don't know how many players are out...shit.

If they want a rest of the season at this point it might be better just to run practices with masks on. It won't be fun but that's probably about all they have as far as limiting spread

Our lacrosse kids practice with masks under helmets. I’ve played the same way. It’s zero fun. But totally doable. D be a bit surprised if they aren’t already doing this.

So you agree then, cancel the game. They don’t know enough yet to understand the extent of the outbreak. And the tests tomorrow morning provide no assurances.
