tOSU 61, Purdue 65 (Final)

Good game guys, very hard fought and exciting all the way to the end. Both teams had their struggles shooting, and both teams got hot at times.

I think the reffing was not very good, but we had some calls go against us as well. I think you were in the double bonus for a while there at the end. I'm kinda surprised, this forum usually doesn't complain about the refs very much after games. I do think the better team won however. Nobody wanted to shoot at the end but Turner, you can't really rely on one guy so much at the end of ball games. He had a great game, hit some crazy shots and is a NBA lottery pick for sure though, if he leaves.

Any Vbets on the Buckeyes' seed in the tourney?

I say after the way we played in the tournament we've earned a #7.

I'd guess in the 7,8,9 range myself. I have to say, this might be one of the most wide-open NCAA tournaments ever. I think all things being equal, Carlina is the favorite because if they play their best, they are probably the best team in teh country, but they are far from infallible.

Honestly, wait until the brakets come out and look at some of the second round match-ups. The #1 seed is going to see some very dangerous teams.

gotta agree with Bucky here...Hummel was looking up through the hoop on that charge call, the "let me put my pinky on the basketball for a jump" was insane, and Hummel playing leap frog with Hill was a ridiculous no call. All huge momentum swinging plays.

Oh my gosh, shut up about the officials already you crybabies! We lost the game on our own!

You obviously didn't watch the game.

The officiating today was easily worth 10 points for Purdue, from the lost possessions, non-calls on ET getting mugged in the lane and phantom non-calls on the Over-the-back plays.....

When the officiating is that bad, SOMETHING has to be said.

However, that being said, Tressel has the right idea about officiating. If it comes down to a couple of tough calls, you probably didn't play well enough to win. The offense got really stagnant in times in the 2nd half and Purdue knocked down their shots while OSU didn't.

Only 1-6 from 3 in the 2nd half when it mattered, gave up 14 offensive rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers. OSU could have played through the tough calls and gotten the win, but they didn't.

The charge on Turner, the BS jump ball, and Hummel's over-the-back were all brutal calls.

That "tie-up" on Dallas was one of the most ridiculous calls I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't believe it wasn't Hightower calling that one. I mean, the defender slapped the ball. He didn't even have his hand on it for one full second. However, I said when they weren't up by 5-10 with about 8 minutes left that they didn't have a chance unless PU stopped scoring. Always need some cushion with this crew. Congrats on a great reg season and Big 10 tourney Bucks!! Time to do a little dancing!

love this philosophy. Take it in the "a" and just move on.

Unfortunately, in today's climate of sports, you can't do that. If you don't think coaching staffs send tapes into the league offices after every game regarding fouls/no fouls you are crazy...and I would know, I used to put the mailing label on the tape and drop it in the "outgoing mail" box.

Obviosuly, you have to play through the officiating, and try and make your own breaks, but you cannot play a team on the same level as you, and eat that many "bad breaks" and expect to win. I hate the philosophy of, "well we had chances to win, we just didn't get it done". Maybe you could have gotten it done if the right calls were made, or you didn't get horrible breaks.

It's a part of the game, but it is also the right of the fan and coaches on each team to point out the mistakes. Unfortunately, it seems like Ed Hightower crews have an abundance of errors. That and theatrics, although I can see why Ed dances around the court like a ballerina. People pay money to watch officials, not the game.

And they very nearly did.

But it wasn't a couple of tough calls though and that is the point I think. This isn't the officiating crew missing a fumble by Rashard Mendenhall at the OSU 2 yard line or something like that.

This was an entire game of horrifically bad reffing.

That said, I think having nearly 5 full days (probably) before they play next will be a godsend. They should hopefully have some confidence, maybe this will burn a bit in their bellies AND knowing they nearly won the more rugged conference championship out there has to be worth something.
