tOSU 60 Michigan St. 67 (Final)

The problem I have with the officiating is that they were so inconsistent. They let the guys bang away in the first half, and then called some crazy-insane-unbelievable BS in the second. You just can't officiate like that. The calls were bad no matter what, but how do you go from a first half with so few fouls (only three free throws even attempted) to a second half where MSU gets 12 free throws in less than three minutes? Ugly. MSU has better talent at this point, so kudos to them, but they didn't decide this game, the officials did. That's a crying shame.

Occasional lapses into poor transition D + Neitzel hitting 6 of 10 from 3 + some untimely misses from the FT stripe. Mix in a stretch of less-than-stellar officiating.

Tough loss, fellas.

Time to sit and wait for Sunday. Could still get in if the folks are feeling friendly.

C'mon Gene! Time to call in some favors! :p

Well, shit. Now the waiting game begins. Hope there aren't many upsets or it's going to be the NIT for us. Hard as hell to beat a team you just played but I doubt the committee will give us much simpathy.

Well, maybe we can win the NIT...once upon a time that title meant something.

Identical to the last game... just on the other end of the stick. Disgusting.

Well, this has probably been said but Neitzel had to go off sooner or later, just like last year against us, and instead of doing it this past Sunday he decided to do it today. I have watched a lot of MSU games this year and today he probably shot the ball better than any game that I have watched.

The officiating was bad. Whether it determined the game or not we will never know but there were some pretty bad calls during that one stretch. Enough has probably been said about that.

The one called that I will not understand it is the technical foul. I have seen much more demonstrative responses to fouls this year and in past years and a technical was never called. A referee should not call it a technical in a tournament unless it is really really bad and Hunter's response was not that bad. It was not like he jumped up and down.

Hope for the best on Sunday. If we are now one of the best 65 teams in the country I will find that very hard to believe. We have lost some very close games to some very good teams this year.

Sorry for the redundancy of previous post.

I'm assuming you are referring to his spot on the NCAA Basketball Tournament Selection Committee... break out the tin hats if OSU makes the tourney! :paranoid:

Assuming you mean "If we are noT one of the 65 best teams"....I agree. This team has played tough against almost every opponent they have faced.

Unfortunately, that just isn't going to be enough to make it in. :(
