Tony Parker Has a Top 3

Reiterating comments Tony Parker made last month, his AAU coach, Norm Parker, said the big man’s top three schools are Duke, Ohio State and Memphis.

“I think those three are his top schools,” Norm Parker said Saturday by phone from Orlando. “He’s probably taken unofficials to all those schools and I think he would probably go back on his officials. I gotta believe that he will make a decision from there.”

“Right now I’m still open but those schools are recruiting me the hardest,” Tony Parker said last month.

Just saw him on ESPN. Not sure how recent the game was.

Pros: Nice turn around jumper from outside the lane. Seems to have a nice touch. Ran well early in the game.

Cons: Not much lift and explosion right now. Needs to drop a ton more weight and build muscle mass. Probably 6'9" in shoes (using other bigs as a gauge).

Game was live last night at 7PM. That was their second game of the day I believe so he may have been tired. Maybe that was why he looked unpolished.

Its looks like Georgetown is the new school that will be added to 2012 center Tony Parker (Miller Grove HS, GA) list of schools that he will consider going to. Along with Georgetown Parker has Duke, Ohio State, Kentucky, Memphis and UCLA on his list. As of right now it seemed that Duke and Ohio State had a lead on Parker but with him adding Georgetown maybe Parker is more open then most people thought.

Georgia center prospect Tony Parker talks about his unofficial visit to Memphis today

Highly sought Lithonia, Ga., 2012 center prospect Tony Parker made his third unofficial visit to Memphis today, touring the campus and meeting with Tigers athletic director R.C. Johnson.

Last month at the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C., Parker (6-9, 270), a senior at Lithonia (Ga.) Miller Grove High, said he was considering three schools in Memphis, Ohio State and Duke, but was open to hearing from others. He said tonight North Carolina, UCLA, Connecticut and Kansas have now jumped into the mix to land his services.

Parker, who made unofficial visits to Memphis for the Georgetown game last December and again in June, said he and his parents are traveling to visit his grandmother in Missouri and "just decided to stop through" for a third visit today.

"I just toured the campus with my parents, met the athletic director and the academic director, and I just saw the (Finch Center). I really toured the campus and got a good feel for it," Parker said. "I think (the Finch Center) is really cool. I really liked it. I thought the campus is really nice. And, you know, the basketball facilities are nice."

Parker said he saw Tigers sophomores Tarik Black and Chris Crawford during his visit today. During the Peach Jam, Parker was particularly complimentary of Black's development over his freshman season, crediting Memphis coach Josh Pastner.

Scout.com rates Parker, who has a soft shooting touch when outside the paint and gets up and down the floor fairly quickly for his size, a five-star prospect. As a junior last season, he led Miller Grove to its third straight Class AAAA state title, averaging 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Parker is one of three highly rated big men Pastner has offered for 2012. The others are former Memphis Central forward Jarnell Stokes (who hasn't yet decided where he'll play his senior season) and Decatur, Ga., forward Shaq Goodwin, a senior at Southwest DeKalb High.

Tony Parker, who is ranked one of the nation?s top 25 college basketball prospects, has announced where he will be taking official visits.

The 6-foot-9, 275-pound forward from Miller Grove High School will take recruiting trips to Duke, Ohio State, UCLA, Memphis, and Georgetown. Parker had around 30-40 early scholarship offers, including Georgia Tech and UGA.

Parker has already set the dates for two of his visits: He is scheduled to travel to Ohio State on Sept. 9- 10, and to Memphis on Oct. 14-15. ?Tony is in the process of working out dates for the other three,? Miller Grove coach Sharman White said.

On a big football weekend, the Ohio State basketball team is entertaining a very big ? and very gifted ? recruit.

Tony Parker of Lithonia, Georgia, tweeted that he's visiting Ohio State this weekend. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound Parker is Scout.com's 19th rated prospect nationally in the class of 2012.

Parker said at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron in July that his list of prospective schools included Ohio State, Memphis and Duke. According to Scout.com, he's since added Georgetown and UCLA to that list.

He said in July that Ohio State's recent track record with sending big men to the NBA ? and the way Thad Matta's team uses Jared Sullinger ? appealed to him.

?It?s a huge school, a great campus,? Parker said in July. ?Growing up I had heard of the Ohio State football program; I think everybody has. But basketball has really come on strong.

?Coach (Jeff) Boals, Coach (Dave) Dickerson, Coach Matta, that?s a really good staff. They?ve done a really good job with me.?

Tony Parker- IMO, we lead or at the very least co-favorites with Duke. He still is supposed to visit us this summer. I think there is a good chance he could commit on that visit.

It's a win-win either way. Both Parker and Coleman are outstanding players.

If I had to choose, I think I'd choose Parker. I really like his game and it would translate and fit in really well at Ohio State. Always a little cautious about a player spending all that much time with Calipari (Coleman) as well.
