Tom Herman (Head Coach FAU Owls)

Feel like I am beating a dead horse. I did not say that Wilson should run between the tackles. I do not think that I saw Wilson as even a decoy last night. Not that it would have done any good.
I saw Wilson in twice. Once he was a decoy on a play action Braxton keeper (maybe a read by Braxton), and the other was lined up at flanker and was barking at Hyde to get lined up properly. Hyde motioned over behind Braxton and Meyer either burned a TO before the play clock expired or we got flagged for illegal motion, can't remember which off the top of my head.

I was looking for him from section 643 and saw him twice.

I was thinking that every page in the playbook might have been available last night. I'm not saying ever play was going to work mind you, just that we would show Sparty some looks that would at least try and confuse them. Hell it seemed like the announcers were calling our plays by the end of the night. Where was all of the innovation? What happened to our bread and butter? RED FLAGS, RED FLAGS, RED FLAGS!!!! Remember when that was the talk about Dontre? I don't remember once hearing the announcers saying "MSU better watch out for so and so here". Watching Braxton being turned from dual threat QB into a one dimensional player was particularly excruciating.

I disagree that we needed Wilson. Getting cute instead of sticking with our bread and butter (Hyde up the middle), which was gashing the #1 defense in the nation, is what cost us the game, IMO. We had it 3rd and 3 at the MSU 40 with just over 5 minutes to go. Hyde hadn't been stopped for less than two yards all game--remember, all we needed was three for the first down--but we run Brax two times in a row for a yard each, and turn the ball over on downs. Game over.

Not saying we needed him, just saying he was out there twice to the poster who didn't see him.

That Would Be Me. I did not mean that they had to run him but just to put him out there for a decoy might have done something. I do not know but there was quite a bit of hype when he was recruited to Ohio State and I did not exactly say that I did not see him but just that he was not utilized in any fashion.

Just curious, but while I didn't like the hurry up on that last drive against TTUN, I thought it might have been an effective change up when we had momentum yesterday but I don't recall seeing it. Wondering what the thinking was on that.

I don't recall seeing any string of plays during any drive being out of the hurry up. Is MSU's defense THAT fundamentally sound that we couldn't find a formation to run the hurry up against? C'mon.

I love Braxton. He will go down as the best statistical player to play Quarterback at Ohio State. And I'm probably being a typical reactionary Buckeye fan, but I gotta be the one to say it...

How crazy am I to think a Kenny Guiton led offense pulls out a win last night?

There was two plays early that I remember we went fast. But that's it. I was really hoping to see the "jet offense" or whatever we called it.

I don't think Jesus at QB would have led us to a win last night. Remember the Cal game with the set up play that was followed my the long ball play? I felt like all we did was run the set up plays last night. I do think Kenny might have been able to do some things...but I think we only win that game if Carlos is playing a little more running back.

100% agree - Herman outsmarted himself multiple times. At the end of the day we have the best OL in the conference and arguably the best in the country, we also have the toughest RB in the country. 2 tries to run 3 yards and he doesn't touch it once is flat out wrong.

Herman is a solid OC but to be great he has to understand sometimes the best plays are the most basic plays.

Well, that's what I kind of mean.

Kenny (or the coaching staff, I suppose) doesn't put too much on his back. Plus his on-field command and calm is far better than Braxton's.
