Tom Herman (Former Head Coach FAU Owls)

Sounds like buyout was raised to 2.5mm. Most important thing for the board is to make sure he has no reason to look around and know he has support of school. Already the highest budget for assistants in a G5 school. New salary would be mid to top tier in any conference other than the SEC.

Maybe. They get into the Big 12, maybe not . . . at least not until Urban leaves . . .:pimp:

They are trying to keep away the mid teir and bottom feeders of the P5 conferences. This is to try and keep him from taking a Purdue, Miami, or Maryland level job. Not a USC, Texas, Ohio State level job. They are hoping like TCU they can ride him into the Big12 then if he wants to go they'll be all thanks for the memories have fun at the new gig.

Delaying the inevitable.

I dunno. You ever go yachting with Tilman Fertitta? Hard to piss off a guy that owns toys like this when you've got him on speed dial.

But does he have the keys to the swagcopter?
I don't know... I was expecting a McElwain-esque buyout. That's not entirely unreasonable and precedent. Then at least if he does leave in a year or two, that 3mil/yr is back in your hands.
I don't think they had to do much to stave off the Purdonts and Illinois of the world... but even the likes if Missouri and SCe probably aren't deterred by a 2.5mil buyout -- especially if I assume they don't owe anything to Pinkel or Spurrier. As we see by the following graphic, they're not afraid to match or outdo Houston's offer.

Well at least the PAC are even bigger cheapskates than half of the Big. Not surprised by ACC, they just don't have the funds.
