Tom Herman (Former Head Coach FAU Owls)

There's zero shot of them getting in. What killed even the most remote of chances was Louisville sucking.

Memphis losing to Navy last week and Temple losing to USF today has doomed the AAC's shot of sneaking in the backdoor. If Temple loses again next week to Memphis than USF would hold the tie breakers in the AAC East.

Houston just needs to get by UConn next week setting up the game vs Navy for the West title and home field in the AAC championship. Get that NY6 bowl.

I think somebody just got (or is about to be) PAID.

Board of Regents meeting today. On the agenda: A vote to grant the University Pres authority to negotiate an amended contract for the head football coach. This comes a day after Missouri's AD publicly stated he is interested in Tom Herman.

UH will also raise his performance incentives across the board and is handing billionaire UH booster BOR chairman Tilman Fertitta negotiating powers superseding the ADs office. Money will come from general fund, increased attendance gate receipts, donors, and board fund raising, much of which has already been done.

Sounds like this has been in the works for about a month as they saw Hermans star rising and the positive feedback from those connected with the program.

Fertitta, University Pres Khator, and Herman are going all in to get into a P5 conference in 24-36 months. Further, approved expansion of Hofeinz Pavilion for basketball programs.

Also discussed at the BOR meeting today was a move to block UTs purchase of 332 acres of land 5 miles from UHs campus to open a UT-Houston branch. University of Texas board approved land purchase without going before the state board of higher Ed.

UH AD @HunterYurachek: ‘It was important to send statement that UH doesn't need to be stepping stone for coaches but rather destination.'

I hope they significantly increased his buyout ?? or it's just a short-term stalling gesture.

Sounds like buyout was raised to 2.5mm. Most important thing for the board is to make sure he has no reason to look around and know he has support of school. Already the highest budget for assistants in a G5 school. New salary would be mid to top tier in any conference other than the SEC.

I'm surprised they didn't raise his buyout more but leave an out clause for if a Texas or Ohio State came calling. As that's a pretty low deterrent for a buyout.

And the only reason I wouldn't sign it was if they offered say 10 years but made a buyour of something really high like 15 Mil with no outlclauses. Otherwise it's sign that sucker right now and twice on tesday
