Tom Herman (Former Head Coach FAU Owls)

That's all fine, guys. I'm just not fond of being gaslighted. Especially, when it's done so blatantly.

Speak if you will to the realities of college coaching employment, but what is inescapable to me is someone who characterized his conduct as honest, when by his own words he demonstrates the polar opposite in that he flat out lied to everyone's face. You can say they should have known better. So, what you're telling me is they should have understood his word wasn't worth the hot air that transported it? Good to know. I'll keep it in mind the next time I'm compiling that short list of people in the world whose character I trust and respect.

A dishonest person would be the first to tell you they are honest. It is up to the individual to make that determination. I just figure that after going through the recruiting process, which can be for years, and after most likely following college football for much longer than that, that a prospective athlete should realize that nobody is to be trusted...just some can be trusted MORE than others.

"I can't believe that Bryce prefers Van Patten's card to mine."

Well, alrighty then.

Herman responded to the criticism by saying, "I talked to two people I love and trust, and those two people are J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones, and they think the world of him (Beck). I talked to Urban Meyer, and Urban Meyer thinks the world of him. Tim Beck was extremely successful when he was a playcaller at Nebraska," Herman told Olson. "So again, chalk that one up to a lot of miscommunication on social media and, again, we'll never be swayed by any of that because we're privy to a lot more information than what Joe Fan is."

I wonder if J.T. and "Cardale" saying "well, he's a nice guy" equates to "thinking the world of him."

Anybody that follows Cardale on twitter knows that this simply isn't the case. One of two people lied here...Tom Herman to the media, or Cardale when talking to Tom Herman.

Well Tom might be getting a reputation I remember seeing quotes from I think it was the UA AA game where some recruits tossed around the "liar" world when it comes to Herman

What is Herman supposed to say here? "Everyone's blasting this hire and you're right, it sucks"? "I only hired him because he's a phenomenal Texas recruiter and I had to give him the OC title for him to come, he's a shit playcaller/QB coach but I don't care about that because I think I can mask those flaws personally"?

He's putting his positive spin on it to make players, recruits, and fans/boosters excited about this hire. That's what he should be doing, and it's exactly what Meyer would be doing in this position (and frankly, is what Meyer did when WE hired Beck and people were questioning the offensive results at Nebraska).

I will always be super appreciative of Tom Herman helping win us the 2014 National Championship, and I'll wish him success wherever he goes, including Texas. I also wish Beck success - while I wish he had been much better at his job while here, and while I'm VERY glad we have a new OC, he was a great recruiter for us who didn't do anything to intentionally/recklessly hurt the program. IMO, that doesn't deserve the level of vitriol that Buckeye fans are continuing to send his way.
