Would someone give me a rehash on the Simon play at the end - what the situation was and the result? Thanks.

4th and 3 i think it was at the OSU 15? OSU brought a biliz, RB picked up blitzer simon blasted threw and got in QBs face, QB had to get rid of it way early and threw it well over and behind WR running drag route

I think Beckman will have a lot of questions to answer about switching QBs in the last drive. Dantin was playing better all game. To put Owens in there is very suspect. If I'm Toledo, I definitely am playing the what if card in my mind over and over.

On the flip side. Not sure about giving Rod Smith such a big carry in clutch time. Hyde had over 100 total yards, at times he lacked the vision he needs for this level, but he ran hard and held onto the football. I feel like he has to be the guy you want to carry the ball at this point late in the fourth quarter. I wonder if Berry will get some carries next week. Also wonder how Hall will fit in. Doesn't make sense how Hall misses 2 games, but Harris for Miami, FL only misses one.

I'd like to see Stoneburner out on the field more, he is our biggest weapon right now.

I wish we would have gotten Miller in earlier, therefore it would have been okay to get him some reps without making Bauserman feel like we were benching him. I would hope the plan is to get Miller a series early next week, no matter what happens. Maybe have Bauserman start, then have Miller start the second series. Then go for there. Or design some special plays for Miller...similar to what we did with Pryor his Freshman year. I just think you need to find a way to get your best players on the field, unless Fickel does not think that Miller is one of his best players. But we need big playmakers on offense, and without Herron and Posey, it seems that Stoneburner is our only one right now.

Glad we won, though! Losing would have been embarrassing. But as I said earlier in the week, the difference between Toledo and Akron is huge. Toledo can move the ball, and has a lot of talent. I wish Page was a Buckeye. But I didn't expect our offense to struggle. Toledo does not have a great defense. We will face many defenses that are much stronger.

We aren't as 'good' as we may have thought we looked last week. My gut is that we likely aren't as bad as we looked at times today.

I know I am going to sound homerish here, but we were without many main cogs, we are inexperienced virtually everywhere, and Toledo came in and played very good. Good job Toledo, they looked inspired and smacked us in the mouth a few times.

QB situation: maybe there is something we are missing. JoeB was quick to checkdown, almost as if it was his first read. My PS3 coaching skills tell me that #5 should have been in there, but the coaches arent comfortable with something.

We have looked sluggish in early season games in previous years and the year turned out fine. We'll see how we look next week.

You can say that again. Reminded me of Cinci, '02.... I was thinking they'd throw into the end zone there and go for the whole fucking thing and I already had played the ball getting batted around a few times to make me shart myself before someone picked it off.

See, that's positive thinking.

Either way it was one of those things where OSU was popping the QB over and over on that drive and he was still barely getting the ball away for completions, not a good way to live, only a matter of time before he was hit while (or before) throwing.
