good grief, what a bunch of negative nancies on this board. wake the [censored] up, people. we lost a HOF coach, were down 8 starters, and were going up against a team that will win 10 or 11 games this year. we have a VERY young team, in case you didn't notice. stop expecting every game to be a blowout. overcoming adversity makes you stronger.

I'm going to buy a scratch-off ticket and see if that stray cat in my backyard is barking.

Why does anyone ever say, "Trust the coaches," on this board? This is a forum. We discuss our points of view. Debate is what makes a forum vital. If a poster trusts the coaches implicitly, then why post an opinion? You have no opinion.

I've been bothered by this for years. If your overwhelming mindset is to "trust the coaches," then your opinion is of no use to anyone on BP. Why post? We plainly see the personnel choices and playcalling. We really do watch the games.

On a forum like BP, "trust the coaches" is a dumb thing to say. Stop the madness.

This game was one of the most frustrating and boring games I have ever watched, it was just painful. Please, PLEASE don't do this to Buckeye Nation again, coach. :oh:

In terms of frustration, this game isn't even in the top 10 even within the past decade.

But it sounds so much better than, "Debate the topic while acknowledging the fact that that our view of the situation is incomplete and it is unlikely that the coaches are either idiots or deliberately sabotaging the likelihood of a win."

After having time to calm down from the anxiety that the game caused, here are my thoughts:

Based on what I know of the situation, which I admit is very little, I don't understand why Braxton didn't get a look.

He played well against Akron, overcame the poor start in that game to make some very nice plays. Joe was clearly struggling, although he did a great job avoiding the big mistake. However, he was also given multiple chances to lead the team to victory, and he couldn't come through. So it's an off day, I'm not saying bench him indefinitely. I'm just saying give Braxton a couple series and see how it shakes out.

Sure, he could have come in and made it worse. He also could have come in and sparked the offense. There is no reason to believe one is more likely than the other, and in the situation OSU was in, I would have liked to have seen them shake it up a bit.

Maybe Fick thought the less tape on Braxton the better. Either way, we got the W, so we live another week.

I wonder why Stoney is off the field so often, is there a breakdown for how many plays he missed? Just interested. Seems like the kind of talent you want on the field as much as possible.

I'd really think twice before giving Rod any significant carries this week, 2 fumbles in bad, bad positions is not something we can survive against better opponents. Can't do it. He's a solid young back, but he has to figure out how to protect that ball.

Dominic Clark has had 2 solid games in the secondary, I really like what I'm seeing out of him.

John Simon recently fought Chuck Norris, and forced a tap out.

I'm scared shitless about our kicking game, for the first time since...a long time ago. Basil has no confidence at all.

Benny really shined after the blocked punt, coming up HUGE when he pinned them down inside the 10. Often you see a punter lose height and distance after a block due to rushing the kick. Not our guy, had a short memory.

I'm extremely disappointed that the boo birds came out so early Saturday. I understand it's just my opinion, but I don't believe in booing your own goddamn team. Fucking stupid. I was as upset as anyone that Joe was struggling, but you don't boo the guy. /rant

Last little tidbit: I'd like to see Fick and Co lay down the law regarding any rules that affect eligibility. Like, don't even risk it, or your out. Use your heads, get clarification if you aren't sure, or you're done here.

I am not that concerned about this game, I just want to see how the men respond on the road this week, and see that defense regain it's intensity and pride.

GO BUCKS!
