Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad May Be Based On Falsehood
A commercial featuring Tim Tebow and his mother Pam that is likely to air during Super Bowl XLIV may be rife with inaccuracies, according to power lawyer Gloria Allred.

...

Because abortion under any circumstance has been illegal in the Philippines since 1930 and is punishable by a six-year prison term, Allred says she finds it hard to believe that doctors would have recommended the procedure.

The attorney, who has represented a roster of famous clients, claims she will lodge a complaint with the FCC and FTC "if this ad airs and fails to disclose that abortions were illegal at the time Ms. Tebow made her choice," according to RadarOnline.
Interview with the lawyer.

Edit: More about the doctors' advice - Coaching character | Gainesville.com
Just before her pregnancy, Pam fell into a coma after contracting amoebic dysentery, a bacteria transmitted through contaminated drinking water. During her recovery, she received a series of strong medications. And even though she discontinued the regimen when she discovered the pregnancy, doctors told Pam the fetus had been damaged.

Doctors later told Pam that her placenta had detached from the uterine wall, a condition known as placental abruption, which can deprive the fetus of oxygen and nutrients. Doctors expected a stillbirth, Pam said, and they encouraged her to terminate the pregnancy.

"They thought I should have an abortion to save my life from the beginning all the way through the seventh month," she recalled.

Stewart Mandel, always looking for a simplistic analogy to build a column around, says Tebow will succeed as a pro because Drew Brees did:

Drew Brees' NFL success should help Tim Tebow's NFL draft stock - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

Because of course Tiller and Meyer ran the exact same spread offense, and Tebow has all the same passing mechanics as Brees did in college.

I don't mind Mandel most of the time (at least he acknowledges that relative conference strength is cyclical), but this is perhaps one of the dumbest things I've ever read.. or I should say skimmed as I felt my IQ dropping with each passing word.

They also wore the same number in college omg Tebow is going to be a hall of famer

"According to power lawyer Gloria Allred" was when I stopped reading it like it could be factual.

It's a fucking advertisement, anyone bitching about it needs to fuck off. Haven't seen anywhere where the AD is even suggesting that Abortion should be illegal, it's just encouraging people to do something..which is what basically every advertisement is designed to do. Some of these people need to get a fucking grip, one minute their bitching about freedom of speech the next minute their trying to censor what gets put on TV because they "disagree with the message"

While there are some issues of the network being selective about which side of the partisan divide is acceptable for a Super Bowl commercial, I don't have a real problem with Tebow being allowed to do the commercial. Let him talk; I doubt it will really change anyone's mind. There'd be a lot more to lose and much greater soapbox afforded Timmuh and his publicity whore parents were they to be banned from doing their little ad.

I do, however, find the notion of this 22 year old, intellectual lightweight being promoted as remotely relevant to complex and highly divisive national issues to be laughable. But hey, let's give Timmmuh his little 60 second burning bush to speak to us. In 12 months nobody outside of some suburban megachurch that's paid him an appearance fee is going to give two [censored]s about what Timmmuh has to say.

Someone's sensitive. Seriously, if you can't see the difference between an ad telling people to drink Crown Royal and an ad telling people not to get abortions then I really don't know what to tell you.

I disagree with the message, but I don't really care if they put it on TV. I have a problem with CBS allowing the Tebows and bat-shit crazy Focus on the Family to push their agenda while they tell liberal organizations and gay dating sites to go fuck themselves.
