Tebow was given the choice of going to the Jets (a dysfunctional locker room and a swearing coach) or Jacksonville (where he played college ball and is basically a state hero) and he chose the Jets. What does that say about him?

Tebow is a shameless media whore. He always has been. Now, he's in the biggest media market in the world and probably thinks that's a good thing.

Personally, I think the NYC media will relish tearing him down.

Mark 2:15-17

*15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

*17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

1) that since football is only the tool for him to reach the maximum number of people in his true mission of Evangelizing, the media market in New York is a perfect fit!!!;

2) that whatever his faults, a lack of faith in himself and his ability to overcome odds is not one of them; and

3) while some might see his decision refusing an invitation to be the beloved, Prodigal Football Son as a character positive - (Tim not taking a much easier road with less negatives to him) - Ord will style it as Tim being an idiot. :lol:

Mike Francesca's show today was pretty funny. It sounds like only 5% of the Jets fans actually like this move. Total business move, not a football move.
I think it is a great move. His salary is chump change, and as long as they keep him in a wildcat package and let him try to reinvent his passing on non-game day time, he could do well. Last year in the red zone he averaged 4.1 yards per carry, and scored 5 touchdowns in 13 carries. If he is willing to play that roll - and continue to work on his well known deficits - it is a win-win. Other than Timmy hatred, it looks pretty simple to me. Tim is going to an offense that is very Wildcat friendly, and he did not cost that much.

I think Tebow is a good dude, but I hope for his sake Sanchez keeps the job because playing in the AFC east is a whole different ballgame than playing in the AFC west. He could be succesful just as long as they use him exactly as you outlined above, but all bets are off if they ask him to take over all QB duties.

It will be interesting to see how it goes next season, it seems like NFL teams have really gotten away from the Wildcat.

Heard someone speculate that Jets could have acquired him for the simple purpose of using him to trade up during the draft, but if he's only worth a 5th and 6th round choice that seems like flawed logic. But let's say they can use Tebow to snag a couple of good receivers, leaving them free to trade Holmes and end some of the locker room problems...

I could do with a lot less proselytizing, jingoistic displays, and all the WWF type posturing in the NFL, but only one of those involves Tebow and when you look at the audience the NFL is playing to it only makes marketing sense to do them all.
