And I do not think he is a douchebag. ESPN is a douchebaggish network who helped create the Tebow legend that you hate. But Tim is a just sincere guy who acts like he does because he was raised by missionaries and home schooled.

I think ESPN and CBS chose to pick up on and celebrate his douchebaggery. They didn't create it. That's all Tebow. I'm sorry, but interrupting a group of people you barely know and who are probably a little stressed out about the test they're about to take so you can present yourself as some self-anointed prayer leader smacks of pompous douchebaggery of the highest degree.

McCoy, by all accounts, is every bit as religious as Tebow. He doesn't face the backlash and scorn Tebow does because he hasn't appointed himself as some savior to shove HIS religion down everyone's throat at every opportunity.

In fairness, Thom Brennaman was working for Fox when doing the Fla-OKlahoma game that made him a better person.

Actually, I think CBS is the douchebaggish that did ten times more than ESPN to create the Tebow aura that a lot of people hate. Go back and watch the telecast of any UF game last year. Only the most ardent of Tebow supporters could make it through the game without wanting to sling a brick through the TV.

Why. I'm a liberal, living in a very liberal city, who's fairly open minded about societal issues regarding gays. Hell, all I have to do is walk 2 miles up Clark Street, and I'm in one of the larger gay neighborhoods in the country. Not exactly the classic "posture" of someone attempting to hide or suppress his sexuality.

If I were gay; I'd be gay not some scared little boy who attempts to fight his natural instincts by publicly demonizing them.

I know you are busy and all, but could you please send me the link were Tim publicly demonized anyone?

And, while your Acquired Gaydar Defense Bona Fides are impressive, I have to tell you that your bashing of him looks a little mean and petty, what with your seeming dislike of most things Tebow for no particular reason. I don't care how hokie he is, he is not spitting out babies to five different girls like some of his contemporaries.

Well then, let's hate Tim because of that.

Did it pass through Tebow's pea-sized little brain for even one fleeting moment that maybe some in that room prefer to keep their religious beliefs to themselves or that some might not share his at all or that some were too worried about the test to be distracted or that some might have even been saying their own quiet little prayers that he--in his moment of self-righteous grandeur--decided to interrupt?

No, and that combined with his subsequent actions sceam, "DOUCHEBAG."

Actually that was more of a direct reference to Brady Quinn whose tormented gay baiting is well documented. I don't know whether Tebow privately engages in the same, but the strand of American religion for which he's become a poster child lives and breathes it, and I've certainly yet to hear him denounce or criticize it in any of its forms.

:slappy:

Other things Tebow supports with his deafening silence:

Demonic worship
Eating people
Eating peeps
Storing peeps for resale the next year (I refuse to believe more than 10 people buy those abominations)

Give it up. You're clearly gay, which is an abomination.

Well, if any of those strawmen were actually being preached and advocated in the suburban megachurches, then perhaps one might expect Tebow to publicly distance himself from those positions if, in fact, he did disagree with them.,

Gay bashing, however, is part and parcel of the fundamentalist Christian identity in modern America. That Tebow is silent about it, can't help but lead to the conclusion that he tacitly supports the position.
