Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

Issue is he's not Tom Herman and how could he be...To me his role in our program was greatly reduced and it's up to the play caller to put JT in positions to succeed.

Yes JT doesn't look as magical as he did in 14 and yeah I suppose as I'm game for the switch if it lands us someone big

You know who did look pretty good? Braxton Miller in 2012, 2013, JT and Cardale in 2014. Greg Ward Jr looked really good in 2015 and now in 2016. These are not coincidences.

Urban wants an explosives offense and stifling defense. We can argue whether that's possible (and sustainable). Explosive plays are measurable. This offense is not generating them from the QB, WR, H, or HB positions, at least in the numbers that Urban wants. Maybe it can. I said that last year, and games against Michigan and Notre Dame were steps, but hardly leaps on the run / pass balance and explosiveness.

I believe, right or wrong, OSU will be on the market for a new QB coach / OC in 2017, whether through opportunities that present themselves and/or recommendations from Meyer.

Hence why I said he's not Tom Herman.

We have to call a better games guys to fairly gauge Beck. Has JT progressed since his freshman year? In ways but his passing statistics aren't what they use to be.

However look at how we call plays now which use to never be the case. Run zeke, run zeke and throw play action was last year's sequence and now this year it's anyone's guess what's going to happen (that's in a bad way).

With Tom Herman how many touch passes, swing passes or quick WR screens did we run? A ton. Which when Jalin Marshall takes it 50 yards for 6 with a touch pass things can look better then they really are.

IMO the biggest thing we miss it the position the play caller is putting the QB in. You can't run the QB, run Samuel on a dive and have it 3rd and 7 constantly. The 2nd half in the Wisconsin game was a nice job setting some first down easy throws like the ones we use to do which then left us with 2nd and 3. From there we can afford shots in the throw game because the likihood of us getting 3 yards on third down is extremely high.

Bottom line is until we get away from this "security blanket" in which we run the ball 70% of the time it will be a struggle.

Say what you like. There's an opening at Purdue and, with exceptional experience at Nebraska and Ohio State, I think the job is Beck's if he sends a signal.
