Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

Put on a complete coaching clinic tonight. Purdue, hire this man!
For once UFM is going to have to show some balls and fire a man. I was hesitant with Beck because Warriner was calling the plays.

UFM had his nightmare In Everett Withers hired away by a D1AA. No one will take Beck and now UFM is going to be forced to do what's best for our program.

I've come to view UFM to be a big teddy bear who shows loyalty to his people regardless (which I get) but he's got to do what's right here. No mistaking it now UFM.

There's a reason Nick Saban has won 4 NCS with Bama. Because he expects excellence and if you don't give it to him he will find someone who will

Ur on deck urban.

He had better WRs in 14. It's easier to connect on a deep ball when Devin Smith is running by everybody in the city. He, Jalin, Mike, Evan, and Corey as a group is better than this years group.
Is that a result in less talent or less coaching? I think we can say that we recruit the best WRs and get some of them. I say the WRs we get are in the top tier as regards to talent. Have we developed them to be the best WRs in college? It does not look that way. Jalin, Mike, Evan and Corey came in with the same hype and relative ability as the group we have now.

The same Corey that can't get out of the doghouse? The same Jalin that everyone ripped on for his hit-or-miss games? The same Wilson that can't stop being injured?

The biggest issue right now is they Brown, Hill, Campbell, and Samuel can only do so much with the play calls given. They are all still relatively young as a corps and Zach Smith can just give the OC a product, he can't make Ed/Beck use it correctly.

I don't think Urban's a teddy bear at all. He let Withers go with the quickness after the abortion that is the Orange Bowl. All of the other position coaches shaped up.

Unless the Buckeyes all of a sudden look like the 2007 Patriots from here on out, I don't expect Beck or Warriner to be on staff next year one way or the other.

Warriner is calling the plays so why are you calling for this guy's head at the moment.

FWIW, our problems last night seemed to center around a line which was getting beat and receivers who couldn't get separation.

Because, despite looking better, JT has not progressed one iota from 2014 and the fuckery from 2015 is still fresh in my mind. Plus the offense completely went to pot when Beck came in, so get rid of him just to be sure.

Is Beck coaching the special teams and the offensive line?
I get what you are saying but look at Becks previous stop and look at what our friends warned us about with him. Before you point to Kansas nearly 10 years ago remember he was a WR coach and warriner was the QB coach.

That doesn't make any sense.

So things sucked somewhere else so now, since we struggled last night to block people, receivers couldn't get open and special teams had disaster, fire this guy?

The team is young, the edge of our line is young, our receivers are young. This kind of thing happens. The most glaring concern for me is that our receivers seem average, which I didn't expect. But I don't know if that is just youth or if it is talent and coaching.

I haven't been a fan since he was hired. Youth is the convient excuse..."edge of our line is young.?" Jones is a JR... WR are a big problem, but have you seen anything the last nearly 20 games that have lead you to believe that the QB position has improved?

I'm really curious because JT looks less ready than '14 and has not progressed possibly regressed since then

This is why I'm all for Beck moving on. The play calling last year was bad enough until the scUM game to justify it IMO, but this year my focus is on JT, and he hasn't seemed to get better. I do wonder, though, how much of an impact the WRs have on how JT has looked. I don't think WR play completely excuses Beck, but maybe it does shift part of the blame. Still, I think I've seen enough that I'm well past ready to move on.

Beck is not what we need I now agree 100% but as OC neither is Warriner.

Urban didn't fire Withers he just probably told him how amazing JMU was. I've yet to see Urban call a assistant into his office in the off season and ask what they did to the Porsche that is the OSU offense then flat out fire someone.

If no one takes these guys Urban needs to do what is necessary to get the offense back on track. I'm not sure he has that in him or not
