There are just too many variables involved for me to "know" who is to blame. There's a good possibility that the players themselves share the blame. I imagine it's much harder to listen to the new coach when the last guy helped you to win a title. Whether the players buy in or not can impact a team far more than any playcall.

Which means it's all on Urban. Period. Everyone makes mistakes. So he hired a turd. Shit happens. Letting the turd sit in the bowl until your neighbors smell it is on Urban. Basically, either Beck is not the problem and he stays and shit gets fixed in the offseason, or Urban's ego wouldn't let him admit he made a poor hire until it cost tOSU a title. Either way, it's hard for me to be angry with the "shitty coach" for being what he is.

Agreed.

Ultimately it's on Urban and I'm 100% confident he will unfuck it.

Doesn't keep me from disliking the dipshit Beck though

I get that. All I'm saying is he vouched for Beck. I also have a hard time believing Urban listened to every playcall straight from the booth and didn't notice they were shitty calls.

It's not just that Urban hired him. It's that he allowed him to fuck shit up all year.

Unless there's other factors to consider. Facts we're not aware of.

It wasn't the Msu game. It wasn't not playing for a title. With the way this team got progressively worse every game for 10 weeks until the train wreck, I didn't want to play a Bama team pissed off about last year. This offense wasn't going to beat Bama. This offense with a full season of great coordination would have, but warriner stepped in week 12 and it wasn't fast enough to gel. We needed warriner to take over in week 5 or 6. Then they might have developed into a team that could beat Bama and clemson. In two games all warriner could do was rape ttun and the domers. Beck was a disease to the offensive development t this season.

Yeah, this was the biggest thing to me. He worked his way from GA and position coach to getting the interim HC label on a staff of Tressel lifers. It was not a good dynamic. The one assistant hire Fickell was allowed to make (Vrabel) wound up being a home run. He also inherited Sic at QB coach who himself was just a video editor/QC assistant acting as placeholder for an ailing Joe Daniels. On top of all that he was given the reins halfway through the summer and missing four returning offensive stars.

Anyone that criticizes Luke's job holding the team together through that can EABOD and DIAF.

I know you think you nailed it, but in reality, you're making my point clear.

Why couldn't Urban recognize and adjust? Why, if Tim Beck was the single, or biggest issue, was he allowed to keep fucking shit up?
Why did one of the best offensive coaches in football allow a subordinate to fuck up what he had built and fine tuned? The only answer I can think of, if Beck is the problem, is that Urban is fucking stupid. So it's either Urban Meyer has us all fooled, or we just don't have a clue as to what was really going on this year and likely never will.

Also, the Withers situation is not the same. Urban was starting from scratch with the '12 D. It was a work in progress for a couple years.

This offense of players hand picked by Urban, running HIS offense, was completely shackled by a first year OC? It doesn't add up.

Thats the same thing people said about the defense in 13.

I chalk it up to not wanting to make mid year adjustments but he damn sure stood there and watched the defense suck historical levels of ass in '13, made a change and viola it was fixed. It was clearly Withers.

Same thing this year, change Withers to Beck.

I get that Withers was the issue. I'm saying no one has ever called Urban a defensive minded coach. Offense is his shit.

If i were building a car from scratch, and my thing is engine work, it might take time to realize the guy I hired to handle the interior is a dipshit. Especially when I've just started building my dream machine. But I'll be damned if I have a show car with a finely tuned monster engine and let the fucking oil change dude put sugar in the gas tank.
