Tiger Woods (Offical Thread)

The once greatest player in the world no longer intimidates anyone. Not even Francesco Molinari. The failure to regain the Ryder Cup can be laid on his door step. He's supposed to lead the team, but he did nothing of the sort.

He's "just a guy" now.

Tiger was leading Molinari with 1 to go. No way can you blame him for this loss. The blame goes squarely on Furyk and Sticker. Simply put, if Furyk and Stricker make their putts, the trophy is ours.

Further, Stricker did nothing to help Tiger on Friday/Saturday. In the match where Tiger and Stricker had a chance, they went up against a buzzsaw in Coelsarts, who had something like 8 birdies and 2 eagles. I suppose you could question the fact that Tiger was last out, but that wasn't Tiger's choice, it was Love III's. Tiger could have played better, but in no way should any of the blame be laid on his doorstep, let alone in his neighborhood.

I think that is the bigger point. If anything, put it on Davis Love III. Tiger had to carry that ridiculous amount of weight that was Steve Stricker all week. Stricker was TERRIBLE. I mean, just AWFUL. HORRENDOUS.

[Mark May], Tiger almost pulled out 1 win by himself while Stricker pulled a John L. Smith all week. For the life of me, I can't figure out why Captains stick with losing formulas.

To put the best player in the United States in a match that could be irrelevant, was just awful strategy. If you want the #1 player in the US to close, you put him in the second or third to last match. DLIII really [Mark May] the bed unfortunately.

I mean the first four US golfers [Mark May] the bed too, but DLIII really set todays lineup as badly as he possibly could. Maybe NBC asked him to run out a line-up that would be good for Sunday television....he just [Mark May] the bed as a captain.

I said it two years ago and I say it again...Steve Stricker has no [censored]ing business being on a Ryder Cup team...absolute choke artist.

See, I don't even think that is fair. He desrved to be on the team. The guy is MR. Consistent on tour.

I just thInk he's the perfect guy to put on a Bubba Watson or Dustin Johnson type team. Let Stricker go out and make his pars, while you let big hitters and ballsy players go for birdies and eagles.

I think the misconception about Tigers game has always been he's a huge birdie/eagle machine, when the fact is, he's a consistent player who takes calculated risks. I think putting Tiger with Stricker is the product of Tiger having very few friends on Tour, and the line of thought that their games will be compatible for alternate shot and 4 ball. But they aren't, IMO.

I think Davis Love III just [Mark May] the bed on some match-ups and got pretty lucky day 1 and 2.

To blame the Ryder Cup loss on Tiger though, would be like blaming Tom Brady for last years Super Bowl loss. Love or hate Tiger, GTFO.

problem is, stricker wasn't even making pars. steve stricker had a revival of his career a while ago, but he isn't the type of guy you put on a ryder cup team. the same goes for furyk.

Tiger, Stricker and Furyk.... All three are choke artists and are to blame for the loss. Oh, and please, Tiger did not carry Stricker. They played equally shitty during their pairings. People will always make excuses for Tiger. He sucked, Stricker sucked and so did Furyk. None of them have an excuse. With all of that being said, great Ryder Cup. Fun to watch. Just wish the good guys could have taken home the Cup.

You replying to him with a contrarian view was confusing. I thought maybe someone had an outbreak of multiple personalities.

Alright, one of you has to change his avatar. Pistols at dawn.

That's right, Tiger was the only guy on the team that sucked

If Stricker makes that putt on 17 or Furyk makes that putt on 18, Tiger has the chance to be the goat or the hero. We never got to that point.

He did suck in the foursomes on Friday morning though. Beyond that, he played fairly well - especially on the back 9.

He could have made sure that Europe retained the cup instead of winning cup. The result is somewhat trivial, but it still matters. Instead he stumbled home for a bogey and lost the 18th hole to give Europe the victory.
