Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Always here for a good seafood boil pics.

Nurtia - how much did you spend for your entire set up?
I'm talking pots, burners, cages...etc

wow, let me see....

i have 3 pots.
my 60quart aluminum was around $80 or so (with basket) about 15 years ago.
my 24 quart stainless (with basket) was won at a fund raising raffle.
i also have a 65 quart aluminum that is thick as hell and a heavy sumbitch. That pot is older than me and belonged to my grandfather. It recently was passed down to me from my dad since i have basically taken over as the cook when we do family boils.

i have 3 burners.
one is iron single jet that i paid like $50 or so. Had to do some modifications to it. It works, but not my favorite b
i have one that came with the small pot in the raffle. but that burner is made more like a huge stove burner. Really good for like frying turkeys, but not worth a shit for boiling seafood.
And a stainless steel 2 jet burner that is by far my favorite. I got it on a ridiculous close out deal from Academy. Paid $25 for it. Regular price is $99. They slashed the shit outta everything to empty the store before being remodeled.

the orange basket the crabs are in in that pic actually floated here during a flood. Been using it ever since. They aren’t expensive to buy though (like $15 last i heard).

i have a wooden paddle for stirring that i think was in the $15-$20 range and a Stainless one that was probably closer to $40 or so.

a full propane bottle (new with no trade) is around $50 ish. Usually less than $20 to swap out an empty for a full most places. Getting an empty refilled is usually even cheaper than that.

so if you starting completely from scratch and buying a whole setup all at once it can be a lil steep. But if you piece it together over time, it’s not that bad.

Brody, research hard for any and all of the 'trial drugs' for MS. Friend has, and does participate in these trials. There have been some ups and downs. One has stabilized her for several years.....not better, but certainly not worse. Don't know where you live, but check with your doc, and if there's a teaching hospital nearby, look into that as well. Again, good luck and our prayers are with you.

That is literally the most Cajun thing that I've ever read. Thank you.

Not to be too political, but I just want to let everyone know that tariffs taking effect next week will double (or more) the cost of European wine and cheese, Scotch and enameled cast iron cookware like Staub and Le Creuset.

went to Bobby Hebert’s Cajun Cannon restaurant for first time today. Oldest son officially signed his Navy contract and swore in today so we went celebrate with him.

Seafood Gumbo appetizer was freaking AWESOME. Like seriously good shit. Definitely Bayou Lafourche level cooking right there.

had this:
Cajun Cannon Redfish
Sautéed redfish topped with crawfish mushroom cream sauce. Served with Vegetable Du Jour and mashed potatoes.

as my main meal.
Redfish wasn’t terrible. But due to state law it was farm raised and not wild. And yes there is a difference. Wild is noticeably better.
but man that Sauce was rolling.
after fish was gone i was using my fries to scrape and sip up the rest of it.

Was a little on the pricey side, but not too ridiculous. And actually a little cheaper than Like a Don’s Seafood which is right down the street from them.

Oh and the beer was cold.
