Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

ok so I’m looking for a good rice recipe. Might get killed for this (I could always just google but figured I’d see if there’s anything you guys do) but looking for a good rice recipe that’s flexible with multiple kinds of protein and not high in sugar or sauces.

Overall just looking for a new way to serve rice along side turkey, ground beef, shrimp and chicken that’s good tasting.

Tried winging a Spanish rice recipe today and damn it was brutal. I’m in a rut cooking wise it seems. Lately everything I attempt seems to suck lol

Simple is best. My basic rice is melt about a stick of butter on low-medium heat, add some coarsely chopped onion and garlic, saute until they start to caramelize, add rice and saute until it start to brown, add water (double amount of the rice) bring to boil, cover and turn down to low and cook 20 minutes. Also, preferred salt and pepper. I use coarse ground pink Himalayan salt and white pepper.

Can’t go wrong with onion and garlic cooked in butter. Thanks for the response!

First carrot cake I’ve ever made. Equals the best I’ve ever had. Not tricky, but numerous steps. Recipe
Coincidentally I found an old recipe book from the early 90's when I work as an assistant the the pastry chef. He had a pretty good carrot cake recipe

Bake in the day we wrote all of our recipes in a steno notebook, probably had to recopy them 3 or 4 times. I'm surprised this survived. Great recipes from the day when everything was scratch. Now they use premixes where you just add water, oil and eggs and mix. Sad

The blueberry muffin recipe is bomb. DeNiro's character from Casino would have loved them

When I worked at a Panera catering only store, we would occasionally have cases of frozen muffin discs expire. Bring some blueberry home and bake them. Always made me happy.
This was a country club. Charles Barkley and Alice Cooper were both members, met both of them and have chatted with Alice a few times. Also, the dude that played Tackleberry in the Police Academy movies died there during a wedding reception of a heart attack. I teased the waiters that it was their bad service that killed him. They told us it was the food. Good times.

He was from Lancaster, Ohio and attended Otterbein.
