Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Since Mrs Katt and I were apart on Thanksgiving, we're having a separate Thanksgiving dinner just for us. Turkey in the oven, stock cooking, apple pie cooling on the pie rack, stuffing, asparagus, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce ready to get cooked in about and hour.

Unless I keep hitting the Pease Lyons, in which case I may just pass out and burn the house down. Whatever.

For Christmas Eve dinner, the Mrs. and I came up with some surf and turf with Scalloped Patatoes with Gruyere & Garlic. We also made a shallot red wine and brandy sauce for the tenderloin. I am usually a strict "Don't add a thing to your steak" kind of guy. But, figured, if I'm gonna try lobster for the first time (That's right, I have avoided lobster up until yesterday), I might as well try a home made fancy sauce too.

the reverse sear yielded this edge to edge medium rare:

Here's the scalloped potatoes, we had to improvise because we needed the oven at two different temperatures, so we used the crockpot:

As I said, I am usually not a sauce on my steak guy, so it started off on the side until I determined if I was OK soiling otherwise perfect steak with it.... I decided ... hey, you just ate lobster, why the fuck not? So, he's a pic where you can see the sauce better. The wine in the recipe went perfect with the wine we were drinking.... mostly because it's the same wine.

@Buckeyeskickbuttocks -- finally got over to Yellow Brick to try their version of Tristano's deep dish pizza. It's good, but not as good as the original.
Still better than anything else in town, though. Giordanos is a distant second when it comes to deep dish, in my IMO.

Not sure about the giant head on the wall, though. Could use a decor upgrade lol
