Thinking of switchin to WOW from Time Warner

Good news from WOW on my internet speed

Got an email:

At WOW!, we want to provide you with the best customer experience possible. That?s why we have increased your WOW! Internet speed from 768kbps to 2Mbps at no cost to you. Now you can surf the Web, download photos and music more than two times faster!

tart enjoying the new faster speed immediately simply by resetting your cable modem. When you reset your modem, you will temporarily lose Internet connectivity for about one minute. Therefore, we recommend you print this e-mail before resetting your modem.

To reset an EMTA Advanced Modem (for customers that have WOW! Phone):
  1. Using a paperclip, push one end of the paperclip into the small hole on the back of your Advanced Modem labeled "Reset".
  2. Hold the reset button down for 5 seconds and release. You will temporarily lose your WOW! Internet and/or WOW! Phone connection while the modem resets. This connectivity loss should only last about a minute.
To reset a cable modem (for customers that don't have WOW! Phone):
  1. Simply unplug the modem?s power cord and then plug it back in.
  2. You will temporarily lose your WOW! Internet connection while the modem resets. This connectivity loss should only last about a minute.
We hope you enjoy your new, faster WOW! Internet speed.

Surprisingly, my internet speed does seem to be faster now. WOW!!!

For people who were already paying for the 2Mbps, I wonder if they reduced their bill accordingly.

Cable-Digital??????

I can switch to Insight Old Cable, no digital, no high speed internet or switch to antennae or satellite. When will Insight or anyone else get modern technology to my street? They say it is coming, but I don't believe it.

Damn, this seems too good to be true....is it? I've only had one problem with TW in the past. In the Dayton area about Fall this year TW got into a spat with the local NBC station. The station wanted to charge TW I guess, and TW didn't feel it should have to pay since it was a public station you can pick up over the airwaves. As a result TW dropped them for a few weeks I think, which meant I had to dig out the rabbit ears and search for a good signal...annoying to say the least.

While I don't care for most the crap on MTV now, Comedy Central is probably the channel I watch the most. I'll see if TW makes a move to correct this, otherwise I may check out WOW. Never heard of them before now, to be honest.

I don't know if I really watch any of those channels any more, but I would think about switching. Only problem is I know DirecTV won't work at my house and I've been told that Dish's satellite is in the same direction. Does anyone have Dish in Ohio and know which directions they point?

All satellite TV requires similar disposition - a clear view of the Southern sky.

I have a clear view of the south, but not the southwest where DirecTV's signal comes from. They could have put the dish on the very top of my house, but then I wouldn't be able to clean it off in case it got caked with snow. A friend at work said he called Dish and they point the same direction which means they are out to. I'm planning on finishing my basement in the next year which would bring me up to 6 TV's and make either satellite provider that much more expensive.
I'm sure TW will work this out with Viacom the same way they do for everything else. They just like to wait at least until the last minute.
