The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

Agreed, thought that was pretty damn good from top to bottom. Tied a lot of stories together and I thought it advanced quite a bit. I will say that even post-Corral, I am quickly losing support for Rick.
From the episode last night, that’s going to change. They went past hinting at it and beat the audience over the head with a brick to show that Rick already felt bad for what he did, then he read Coral’s letter. It’s obvious this is what is supposed to lead to him sparing Negin (which isn’t a spoiler since JDM is under contract), although I still think eventually the way they set that all up since the Glenn cranium bashing will be the thing that ends up making the least amount of sense in the shows run.

Finally, Jesus.

any guesses who Negin picked up that looked like shit on top of shit? I was gonna say Gabriel, but he is at the Eugene factory. I don’t remember anyone else wandering free?

I'm assuming it was the female Savior who escaped and knows about Dwight helping Rick & Co. - she's going to inform Negan about Dwight's betrayal and now he's got plans for both Dwight and Simon is my guess.

I'm going to guess a zombied version of somebody without giving too much of a thought to it.
edit - oh....what Magua said makes more sense.

I consider myself a reasonably intelligent guy (although continuing to watch this season after season may lead to some self doubt) and I didn't understand the point of most of the hour I spent at lunch today watching this episode. Garbage lady packing a suitcase and tying Negin down and the helicopter? To quote Negin, "What the shyt?" Morgan and Carol and Morgan and Rick? What the shyt? Basically, the whole thing? What the shyt? The HELICOPTER, what is this, Lost? What the shyt?

A big part of the Jadice/Negin exchange left me pretty lost as well. Negin still intrigues me a ton, which is why I probably skimmed over on some of it, but Jadice is utterly uninteresting.

Reading online, it appears there are 3 possibilities for the pickup:

1- Laura (the woman you mention that saw the Dwight turncoating)
2- Sherry (Dwight’s wife)
3- Gregory

I think they are trying to take advantage of Pollyana’s acting ability to make her a more complex character now. Unfortunately, it’s too late, because after the “up up up” bullshit no one is going to take her seriously.

Oh, and for finding that one bedroom in a junk pile...I wanna hire her realtor.

As they were
walking Eugene back to wherever
, it dawned on me that it has been YEARS since Darryl was a badass. How the fuck did they manage to squander such a cool character?

Other than that, no problems with the episode that I can remember. I wish somebody (anybody) would kill Eugene. His schtick is older than Negan's.

The entire Rick crew has been dumber than a sack of thumbtacks for the better part of 3 seasons. Every time they do something, it is mind-numbingly stupid. Even Maggie has gone full bonhead. My only hope is that they fillet Gregory for bringing them bad intel. Oh. And for fucks sake, make this fucking war end next week, or else I can’t see stomaching another year if this.

I liked this episode overall with a couple caveats.

One, Simon's death was kind of stupid and the fact that Lucille hasn't been utilized at all since Negin was introduced is pretty disappointing...Simon's death would have been a great way to do it. I loved Simon's character and I think the story line leading to his death was pretty well done, just a lackluster ending. Two, I am done with the war as well...this shit needs to come to a conclusion sometime soon. I see them dragging it out as long as possible though since Negin is pretty popular.

I wanted to see either Lucille or him beat him down and then, before he was dead, open the oven and throw him in. But, both options would have precluded the Simonbot from being in tact along the wall, and I guess that shot was more important to them. I agree though, Lucille has done nothing since Glenn, which kind of goes against the “this is how we need to keep people in line” crap they’ve been selling for 2 years+.

I also thought the whole “flip the characters completely so now Rick all of a sudden sees people as a resource and Negan now wants to kill everybody” in one episode was cheesy as fuck. It’s almoat like they want to throw the moral ambiguity out there but they are afraid to explore it. Plus, they’ve tried to turn Negan into this Stone Cold Steve Austin anti-hero for a year or more, and now all of a sudden he’s just supposed to go back to being a bad guy again. But this is the end result of them basically becoming comic spot-monkies. They are so brutally bad at storytelling they can’t keep from fucking a single character up.

BTW, can somebody fucking explain to me how fatboy perfectly camouflaged himself in ash...with his hands zip-tied?

Yeah, that was ridiculous. And agreed on the Simon death, who gives a damn about chaining him up after that lackluster death scene. A Lucille comeback would have been a more fitting end. I am pretty sure I am not the only fan that really like Simon's character. I am fine with him getting killed at this point in the plotline, they just didn't do it right.
