The Walking Dead (Official Thread)

*NERD ALERT* *NERD ALERT* *NERD ALERT*

After I watched the first episode at the beginning of the season, I went out and bought a couple of the graphic novels. I wanted to see what I enjoyed more and how closely. Basically after Rick is saved by the black guy and his little son in Kentucky everything is 100% different.

They have made no attemps at following the original novels and have introduced characters/plot lines that weren't even mentioned.

I do encourage you to run out and buy a couple. They are in black and white and certainly worth your time/energy. You can usually finish one in about 45 mins of light reading - they are excellent.

in regards to "the whisper."........ maybe his son isn't really his.

Was thinking something similar. Either the doctor told him his wife was pregnant (would that show up on a blood test) OR provided him with instructions on a safe house or a military base or someplace where they could go.

BTW....they are already making writing staff changes (initial report is they were all fired, but official report is "some changes").

Gale Anne Hurd....

Last week, it was reported that ?Walking Dead? Executive Producer Frank Darabont had fired all of his writers, a report you later denied. Were you surprised by how quickly the story spread?

I don?t understand why when a story that?s not been fact-checked comes out nowadays, it?s still taken as gospel. No one checked with us. You don?t know going into TV shows if you?re going to get picked up; that?s just the way this business is. People can?t commit two or three years of their lives for a show that might get canceled, so they set up other projects. You have to, and I don?t think that that?s something that the casual reader or viewer is going to be aware of. So there are quite a few writers that we plan to have back ? it?s going to depend on their availability. Obviously Robert and Frank are back, and they are truly the two people who made this season happen, with great support from everyone in the writers room. Also, when you have a season of only six episodes, that?s not enough to support yourself, so everyone was working on other material.

I loved the stand-off with the "Latino thugs with a heart of gold". "Tonight on a very special Walking Dead, Rick and the boys learn that you can't judge a book by it's cover...".

It's a crap show, but it's filmed in my home town and I loved seeing zombies walking around downtown and the CDC blown up. Too bad it didn't take out the University of New Jersey at Atlanta right next door, though.

Living in Atlanta I thought they did a weird job depicting Atlanta..

but then again I guess it would be hard to film or do whatever they do in Centennial park or at Underground Atlanta.

In case anyone cared - the building they used in the final two episodes was not and never has been part of the CDC (obviously). It's a big theater located 20 minutes north of downtown. It's called "The Cobb Energy Center."

Clearly it looks alot different with no humvees, tanks and dead bodies scattered around.

They probably couldn't get rid of all of the tourists and crack zombies to use either of those.

I thought the old Southern Railway HQ and the more or less derelict bldgs south of 5 Points were actually pretty good apocalyptic choices.
