It's funny how your 2nd paragraph sounds like the argument over the black jerseys. They don't embarrass the program and the kids like them. His tweets are being read by about 5,000 people. Articles on College Spun misrepresenting the meaning of his tweets probably get 100 hits. Hell, if you walked into an OSU bar on game day and asked "Who is Zach Smith?" maybe three people would know. Most fans that don't read message boards wouldn't know Tom Herman from Ed Warriner from Tim Beck.
His tweeting is really not a big deal to anyone over the age of about 25, and the kids he is trying to reach think it's funny. This stuff is hardly an embarrassment to the program.
Smith is cool, and kids do like him and he can relate to them, which makes his appeal to recruits that much more important. He sends some tweets that some fans get their butts tight over, but until our WR corps falls off, and we don't have an offense that still strikes fear in most of the defenses in the nation, the stop worrying. Like has been stated, Smith has worked through a lot of injuries to his group, ad rebuilt a group that ha next to nothing. Imagine if Brown, Smith, Wilson and Campbell were actually healthy this year...
