The thread where Diddy explains his social media policy (split from Z. Smith)

 It can be shunned by individuals, but a coach forbidding twitter or Facebook is pretty much impossible. It's also ridiculous. Both are so ingrained in youth culture that you might as well ban rap music in the weight room or ban pizza and video games.

I say connect with recruits via AOL chatrooms and MySpace. Or telegram. I'm sick of this nonsense as well.

But for real...Smith took a group referred to by UFM as a "clown show" and produced numerous draft picks and unbelievable production here. Numbers aside, he forced them to block and become more rounded players. Incredible coach and great recruiter. Sometimes I do think he needs to cool it a tad on social media but I really don't think it's a huge deal. He has room for improvement in certain areas but I think he's an excellent coach and I'm thrilled to have him on our staff.

Guy recruits with the best of them, his WR's love him and due to that forming the 'Zone 6' has become a trendy position group that has had staying power beyond the 'No Fly Zone' and any other position groups that have popped up. He connects and creates relationships that sometimes only he can do - he serves a purpose none of our other coaches do and Urb knows that....it's a well rounded staff and he's a large part of it.

In a few years he's going to get a promotion by a P5 club as OC/RC - odds are, you'll miss him.

Wrong. He won't be leaving for a promo. If I'm wrong, which I doubt, I won't miss him. I posit Urban Meyer and Ohio St will find a suitable replacement. We can overcome Zach's "WAR".
I don't consider being the players friend a big positive.
You know who was a wr coach, a great one, who wasn't "loved by the players" - Urban Frank Meyer.

My God, can you least give him props for what he has done on the field with the players. You sure have a "hard on" for a position coach that hasn't cost us a game. What did Earle Bruce dis your mother???

I agree with you on some things you post diddy, but this is not one.

There are a lot of different ways to be a 'great' position coach, there is not one way. And being a 'friend' is a big positive....kids leaving their home, sometimes thousands of miles away, and it starts with those relationships you build from day one.

We could overcome losing a number of coaches with Urban as HC... but that's not a compelling reason to fire somebody. :roll1:
Becoming clearer by the post that you just have a personal vendetta. Did he kick you out of a practice and say mean things to you or something?

Fair enough we can revisit this at a later date.

You don't think Urban is loved by his players?
