The Sun Will Still Rise

There is nothing....

Woody Hayes said:

Woody Hayes

This quote is more pertinent now than it has been since a January night in 2007.

The Buckeyes will learn and grow up from this....there were several positives to be taken from this game tonight.

1. The offensive line showed that it can strap it up and run it even when the Defense knows it is coming. It's not a matter of talent, it's a matter of will.

2. Andrew Sweat is a player. Perhaps the next great Ohio State linebacker.

3. Despite the injuries to the secondary, quite a few of the younger players are getting significant playing time.

The strongest steel is forged in the hottest of fires. The kids will grow from this firestorm.

I think this would be a therapeutic thread both remembering Woody's wisdom and attempting to pull some good out of what is an otherwise crushing loss.

Doesn't matter, you don't get to play every game in the comfort of your home stadium. If you want to be a champion you've got to go win on the road. If this team wants to have a chance to win the Big Ten championship and make a BCS game it will have to buckle down and refocus. Excuses and what if's don't do anything for you.

Agreed. We were beaten soundly, no excuses. Time to find out what this team is made of now that National Championship is gone. Do we work towards getting better each week or do we lose focus on the weekly task at hand. Wiscy punched us in the mouth and we fell. Time to get back up and see who we are.

I second that emotion.

Six or seven years ago, I would have been belligerent and indignant over a loss. Now ... I look at my kids horsing around on the floor in front of the TV without a care in the world and remind myself that it's just a game, and my life is not defined by whether or not a sports team wins or loses a game.

How dare you Tressel not go 123-0 this past decade! We fired our last three Hall of Fame coaches in a row and we'll fire you too!

Hmm ... that didn't work. Yeah, I guess I just can't get angry about it anymore. It's just a football game.

... and if the sun doesn't rise tomorrow, I can hear my two year old daughter say, "Daddy! Moon!" and point at the sky. And that will be music to my ears, and I'll still be happy.

If this is a post game/post mortem...well, a lot of us worried that special teams might cost us a game this season and IMO, it did tonight. That opening return set the tone for their first couple of drives and in the end, it was too much to overcome. Oh well, that sucked, but buckle up and keep playing. Gotta really start rooting against sparty now.

U-R right!

Except, scUMsu" won't lose.

But, the sun WILL shine on us again this season..

In the Outback Bowl

Peace

I know what you mean man.

Being in a 21-3 hole right out the gate makes a big difference, of course. I was past denial, bargaining and guilt before half and had arrived at acceptance and hope early in the third quarter. :tongue2:

Great post man. I thought the same thing this evening when I looked at my daughter laughing and carrying on without a care in the world as the Buckeyes etched towards a loss. My disappointment quickly changed to a smile when I put her to bed tonight. In the end, it's just a game. We are fortunate to have such a successful program. Yeah, it's a disappointment to lose when you think a title is within reach. That being said, I won't lose a wink of sleep tonight over it, because I know that the Bucks have brought me more joy than sorrow over my lifetime, and without a loss here or there we would take it all for granted.

Agreed, losses go down a lot easier as a dad.

But I still just fucking hate Wisconsin.
