The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

LSU 3rd loss to unranked team: -4 spots
Aggy +8 spots

Michigan 2nd loss to top10 team: -4 spots
WA St 2nd loss to top10 team: -5 spots
WVU 3rd loss to top10 team: -3

Interesting things I noticed
- Cinci drops to 29 after winning big... looks like there was some rallying to get Missouri into the Top25 (that fell short at 27)
- No move to bump OU above UGA despite a big win. If they beat Bama, I fully expect to see B1G, PAC, and BXII all left out. Part of me hopes that happens... but ratings were good last year so it's like the Apple phenomenon where people inexplicably buy overpriced junk because of media influence.

I don't think it'll be ratings. I truly believe the catalyst needs to be the B1G finally saying enough is enough and gathering at least the PAC on their side.

Oklahoma is 37 points ahead of tOSU in the AP poll of 61 voters, and 32 points ahead in the Coaches poll of 64 voters.

Assuming everybody has the two teams at 5 and 6, and other things being equal:

That means that 19 of the 61 AP voters would have to move tOSU ahead of Oklahoma to switch spots,

And 16 of the 64 coaches would have to do that to make the rankings tied. It's really 16 of the 48 who have Oklahoma ahead now, since 16 of the 64 have tOSU ahead if the margin is 32.

So if the committee members beliefs are in line with the polls, Oklahoma is currently favored by about 75% of them, and over one-third of those would need to change their opinions in order for tOSU to jump Oklahoma. It would need another convincing performance this week if Oklahoma gets any kind of win over the only team that beat them.

I have 0 faith in that happening anytime soon. The conference didn't have the balls to address the homefield advantage... if anything, I think BXII will make the biggest stink about it and be the kid throwing their toys out the pram with PAC and B1G being like "you know... they might actually be right"

While these polls really don't matter... the order of precedence in AP is pretty stratified and rigid.
Not seeing much in the way of one team being ranked 3 and another 7 on various polls. Almost everyone has it Georgia, OU, Ohio State.

There's some outliers* who have UCF 4th, but otherwise the precedence looks pretty solid and suspect Shadow Council will take that as a clear mandate to proceed with their 2 SEC school plan.

With no wins vs top 10 teams.

We will have two.

We probably get left out but its really splitting hairs between OU or OSU.
Eh I'm not sweating it too much because I believe either OU or OSU would get beaten pretty soundly by Alabama. I think OSU has the potential to give Alabama the best game out of the two because I think the Buckeye defense could actually rise up and play like a Top 10 defense plus, as we've seen this weekend and in the past, Urban can get this team to rise up and play out of its mind for a couple of games. Even still, I'd take a B1G Championship and a win in the Rose Bowl in a heartbeat. I just don't think anyone is beating Bama this year.

Assuming OU, bama, clempson, and tOSU win next weekend there will be a beauty contest between OU and tOSU. First prize: a first round playoff date with Bama. I’m still thinking, let OU have that honor and we go win another rose bowl.

Edit: well damn, what sys id said.

I'm inclined to agree. But I also see Tua limping damn near every game and question if he can really survive Georgia, #4, and Clemson in succession. Will always take that chance too... our last 2 NCs were as huge underdogs.

I'll take the silver lining if we get left out though -- get this team to beat up on somebody (UW?) in a primetime bowl and use results from last 2 years to campaign for 2019.

Need to beat Northwestern first... seems like another trap Iowa / Purdue that this team could overlook after such a big emotional win at home.

Yeah I have no idea why Saban even played him the Citadel game. It was dumb and stubborn and could have potentially cost them their season if something happened.

For sure... I don't think we get in but If we take care of NW soundly I think we should.

We have the worse loss but also the best two wins when you compare OU/OSU.

Like you said though the first round against Alabama is a likely 20+ point loss so not sure it would matter.

Texas won't be top 10.

If Texas can at least keep it close and if we can put a beat down on NW then I think we go.

If OU wins big then forget it.
I would think OU goes in anyway with a win, regardless of how close Texas is able to keep it. With a win over the Longhorns, OU will have beaten everyone they've played on their schedule and would be on par with undefeated Bama, Clemson and ND.
