The Polls (AP, Coaches, & CFP, etc.)

Fuck ‘em. If you’re in the dance, you’ve got a chance. Rest of you can cry like babies. Go Bucks.

I agree.

If we get in and get blown out I'll be sure to remind you of this post. I recall similar conversations before OSU got routed 31-3 by Clemson not so long ago, and some of us suspected that was going to happen based on how we stumbled into the CFP.

Whether we like or not, the Bucks haven't been what we want them to be in 2020 (and we can thank our conference for that).

52-17 over Nebraska
38-25 over PSU
49-27 over Rutgers
42-35 over Indiana
52-12 over Sparty
22-10 over Northwestern

If our name wasn't "Ohio State" no one would look at that resume' and think top-four team. If we get in they're giving us the benefit of the doubt. We'll need to play a helluva lot better than what we saw today to avoid getting embarrassed on a national stage. Kid yourself in the meantime, if necessary.

For the record I hope you're right and I'm wrong. Seeing the Bucks win is far more important to me than having my "football intelligence", as I saw someone say it today, validated to a bunch of people I've never met. I'm still laughing at that guy.

Re: If our name wasn't "Ohio State" no one would look at that resume' and think top-four team.

Which is one of the primary reasons we have the #2 recruiting class coming in next year. The recruits want to go to a school that gets into the CFPs.

All this yanking and hacking about who’s in and who’s out is EXACTLY why the current system works. Without all the drama the attention of the casual fans would be distracted to some other shiny object. Without the casual fans the ratings can’t support the ad rates. No ads=no big pay for college football.

Y’all are NOT casual fans. Your wishes for some perfect and fair system to find the real best teams would actually destroy college football as we know it.

Just sayin': All these bowls are cancelled....

Canceled bowl games
Bowl games that have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic:

  • New Era Pinstripe Bowl

  • Fenway Bowl

  • San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl

  • Bahamas Bowl

  • Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl

  • Hawai'i Bowl

  • LA Bowl

  • Las Vegas Bowl

  • Redbox Bowl

  • Sun Bowl

  • Quick Lane Bowl

  • Celebration Bowl

  • Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl
And nobody really misses any of them......

They can cancel most of those, just gimme the 2020 Cheezit Bowl - because that combination has to mean some real entertainment.

yeah.....we're lucky college football survived for those few years before the CFP was implemented. I'm surprised it wasn't killed off instantly without those casual fan dollars :roll2:

I have yet to see a version of OSU on the field that belongs in a four team playoff. MSU was close, but MSU is MSU this year.

Then again - COVID.

There's two teams that truly belong, and six that would be going in with nothing more than a puncher's chance. That's why this is the perfect season for eight. That being said, undefeated P5 champ Ohio State deserves to be in a 4 team playoff regardless of what chinks in the armor they've shown unless there are four other undefeated P5 champs. This will be 2014 for me. We go in with no expectations and see where the chips fall.

As long as they don't cancel the Cheez-It bowl I'm good.

I think you just made the case that only two teams should be in the playoff, not 8.
