The Ohio State University Marching Band (TBDBITL)

Did you read the reference that I provided?
http://www.landgrantholyland.com/20...-ohio-state-president-michael-drake-uc-Irvine

Count down 50 lines and see if you can read:
"Drake said that he made the decision on his own, rather than formally asking the regents."
"Drake a dit qu'il a pris la décision de son propre chef, plutôt que de demander formellement les regents."
"Drake dijo que él tomó la decisión por su cuenta, en lugar de pedir formalmente a los regents."
.

I guess Ohio State didn't teach reading comprehension all that well back then because the quote that you mention is clearly talking about the DISMISSAL of Chemerinsky not his hiring. And none of your other references--even the opinion blog piece--say anything about Drake making the offer to Chemerinskly outside of a proper search process. One, in fact, references a nine month search process.

Again, you have your facts completely wrong. You want to dig up his pulling of the job--most likely at the behest of an outside donor--that's fine. Drake clearly fucked up in a big way. I agree. The initial hire, however, was not made outside of normal channels and processes. He didn't subvert the hiring process to bring in this wild eyed Ultra Liberal, which is what you really want to taint him with. The Captains' Quarters blog is a rather good, if highly critical, hypothesis of what went on behind the scenes to have Drake all of a sudden yank the offer. If anything Drake's greatest fault is in letting a donor influence--for likely political reasons--an academic hire. That is something that I find very disturbing in his past.

And as for this

Drake made the decision on his own, rather than formally asking the regents. (?)

You clearly have absolutely ZERO idea of how academic hires are made. The appropriate Dean, Department Head or President (depending on the level of hire) make the offer and draw up the contracts, and THEN it is subject to approval by the regents or trustees. Regents or Trustees do not get involved in hiring Deans or Professors; they merely approve the contracts.

The more I read from alumni, parents, and especially those named in the initial report, the more ticked off I get. It seemed fishy to me at first, and now its yelling "expired tuna!" While technically less than 25% of the initial report has been denounced as false/misconstrued by the named witnesses, what I've read is more than enough for me to lean heavily to the side of "it was created with an agenda in mind."

Five female band members whose nicknames were included in OSU's report have sent a letter to Pres. Drake in support of Jon Waters

Jeff Svoboda ‏@JeffSvoboda 1h
The letter describes OSU's report as "unwarranted" and "offensive" that has turned "a high point in their lives" into something else

Here's the beginning of the letter sent by 5 former female band members requesting meeting with President Drake, BOT

agreed. Too many politics involved if what I heard was true.

It's pretty typical for academic politics though. Every department is jealous of every other department's funding and covets anything they could bring under their control.
The ivory tower is a very passive aggressive place.

When Gordon Gee appointed Jon Waters as the new Director, he ruffled some feathers internally because Waters was the first Director EVER who did NOT have a PhD.
With a new President and a presented opportunity to "correct this travesty" (lol), those close to Drake jumped on it with both feet.

Something to keep in mind now: there has NEVER been a female Director at OSU. Do you think this might look like an opportunity to someone?
Also, remember Drake might think a band is supposed to look like Stanford's or UCSF's where he went to school!

Don't know about UCSF (or any of the UCs) but he'd have to completely disassociate the band from the University if they acted anything like Stanford's. Talk about "sexualized culture"... forming penises and marching in and out of the USC tunnel repeatedly, having an entire show centered around Girl's Gone Wild (the founder is apparently a USC alum), stripping to their underwear in the middle of halftime shows, and countless other shenanigans.
Then again if they played or acted anything like that, he'd probably have to flee the State and join the Witness Protection program.

Nobody knows who she is. Was interviewed (I believe CBS10 or ABC6) with a scrambled face & voice. Pure chicken[Mark May].

To be fair that was probably the right move. Her daughter was "sexually assaulted" (which I still make the assumption that she meant raped given how its affected the family and the expelling of the perpetrator). It'd be a shame to her feathered and tarred imo.
I think in her irrational grieving, the mother took it out on the wrong person... after deciding to not prosecute the ahole in court. But it wasn't up to her to make a fraudulent report and fire Waters for something he had nothing to do with. Drake, et. al. did that all on their own.
