HECK YEAH ! I would rather loose to BYU over NW! As for USC and MIAMI! Leinert is 3 times better than Dorsey! And OSU's defense is not near as good as the one on your championship team.

As for OSU's offense well for one OSU did not play ND's schedule. And I would not think OSU would have had better offensive numbers over the course of last year.

An ND fan bashing a school over "reputation," lol, thats great. Im sure youre VERY PROUD of this one in 2002:

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Three Notre Dame football players and a former player are fighting the school's decision to expel them after they were accused of raping a female student.

The men met a Tuesday deadline to file appeals to university president Rev. Edward Malloy, their attorneys said Wednesday. No timetable for a decision has been set.

University spokesman Dennis Moore said he could not comment on the case because of confidentiality laws.

St. Joseph County Prosecutor Christopher Toth said he will make a decision by May 15 on whether to file charges. He did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press seeking comment Wednesday.

Although the four students were expelled, they were allowed to take finals. If their appeals are denied, the results of the finals will be thrown out.

A female student who knew the men through her work with the athletic department accused them of raping her on the morning of March 28 after they lured her to a house with promises of a party.

Three of the attorneys declined to talk about what their clients' specific defenses against the charges were, other than to say they didn't commit any crime. Attorney Mark Lenyo said his client denies having any sexual contact with the woman. "

I personnally don't care a flying pair of pineapples what people think of Ohio State. I care what I think of Ohio State, and my thoughts are based on the truths. For instance, Ohio State suspended MoC for the 2003 season because Ohio State said he broke the rules. The NCAA accepted Ohio State's punishments. Ohio State kicks players off the team when they're breaking into cars and getting caught using drugs. Ohio State is suspending players for breaking team rules. Ohio State fires coaches for breaking rules. A few bad crapples, in my mind, don't screw it up for the rest of the bunch.

And I agree that those who "dislike" tOSU are just bandwagon fans. Except, in this case, it's probably called something else. Garbage-truck fans, or something. A big story will come out against another team (Fla St or Miami is my guess), and people will forget about disliking tOSU.

If anything, ND fans and OSU fans should get along pretty well. We all generally hate scUM, USCum, and scUM (FL). And lets face it, losing to either Northwestern or BYU is a pretty bad loss.

Wow domer, you sure do like to play devil's advocate.

And yet, if you ask those who don't respect OSU "why", I guarantee you'll get a list of unsubstantiated accusations, innuendo and accusations proven to be false, provided as "evidence" of our transgressions.
Same applies to the Bucknuts feelings about my boy Petey C.

Whether we are the NEW BAD GUYS... or not.... It doesn't matter. All the responses that are negative about tOSU are from outsiders wanting to be part of the group but can't. WHY? Because they just don't understand what being a fan is, what pride is, what caring about something is, what passion is!!! They either had a dad or uncle or chose any team that they're friends like as they were growing up and decided to keep them as their favorite team (bandwagoneers)! I care how people think about tOSU, but won't loose sleep over what other people think as long as the NCAA and tOSU administrative officials, coaches, & players are being treated fairly on the football field, in the classroom, and outside the university and with the BCS ratings. I could care less what Joe from Po-Dunk thinks. What I care about is that there are still fans, alumni, staff, and student athletes that believe in the rich and historical powerhouse we call THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY - and yes - I AM A BUCKEYE! So pour it on while you can you media weasels, find every inch of dirt because when this is all said and done ESPNerds will fall on the same sword they are swinging around. They simply discredit themselves and that makes me happy.
O - H!!!!!

It doesn't seem you can judge the 2005 Ohio State team based on growing pain performances against Northwestern, Wisconsin, Iowa and Purdue. The reasons why we lost those games have been discussed ad-nauseum. Youth at QB and on the O-line... new if not sometimes bad defensive schemes. Judging this team based on that is the same logic that misled people expecting nothing in 2002 because of 2001. The similarities between 01 to 02 and 04 to 05 are eery. Lest we forget that with very few exceptions, the 2002 team won with very little offense - nothing like what we saw in the last two games of 2004 against formidible opponents when it was obvious that the questions that dogged us all year had finally been answered. Michael Jenkins was awesome - but he's not a Ted Ginn gamebreaker. Mo C was a gamer but look at how many games we had to win without him. Don't be surprised to see Pittman/Haw as an even better 1-2 punch than Clarett/Ross.... let alone Ross/ Hall. As in 2002, both our quarterbacks have big game experience and unlike 2002 our line is deep and battle tested - this might be the deepest O-line ever at Ohio State when you factor in Boone and Cordle.

On defense we've put together a group anchored by the best linebacking corps in the country with a shutdown corner and two safeties who have lived up to their billing... A group that manhandled two of the nation's top running backs to close out the season. To not see that this group has the potential to be better than the 2002 unit is to dog OSU just because it's a free country and you can.

Many people on this forum, including myself expected those growing pains last year after the struggle with Marshall. If OSU is not your favorite to play what we think will be USC in the NC then who is? After you answer that ask yourself if that team would beat us in the Shoe. The deafening silence is your answer as to why we think we have as good a chance at anybody else at playing for the national champsionship.

As for the bad boy impressions and all the so-called OSU issues I have and always will chalk it up to plain and simple jealousy. I think fans on other boards honestly think that by bad-mouthing OSU it's going to influence recruits and somehow dissipate our team and our will - guess what folks... it isn't working. Notice how ESPN has been laying off OSU lately? MoC makes allegations against the program and they air them implying he's a credible source... Hmm, the credible source whose cellphone bill was payed by booster funds obtained by our starting quarterback prompting his suspension. In the interim Myles Brand says Clarett was handled transparently and thoroughly by OSU... and in the aftermath just before the most recent NFL combine, Clarett says he loves Ohio State, will always be a Buckeye and that sometimes he looked at the person he was and saw a joke. If you're not good at reading between the lines I'll spell it out: The NCAA is going through the motions but there will be no sanctions. It is almost impossible for their to be INSTITUTIONAL cheating at Ohio State - their are too many checks and balances. Any media outlet still milking this is only exploiting this new "you either love them or hate them" phenomenom since we beat Miami. ESPN may now be more concerned about heat from the ad division if they can't get security clearance at our games!

To summarize my thoughts about this thread is to simply say we fans need to separate perception and reality. We are not bad guys as a team and success breeds jealousy. If we keep winning on the field eventually the naysayers will understand that you can't beat our guys down with words .

I've seen two or three (or more) posts in this thread saying the reason for our possible bad boy image is jealousy.
Was it jealousy when we were looking down our noses at the Nebraska Cornholers, and the problems off field they were having?
Or how about scUM south, Cryami? All the instances, covering several coaches there. They set records for NCAA sanctions.
The one I remember best though is Free Shoes University (F$U). The biggest problem there, in my eyes, wasn't the illegal acts, it was the fans who stood up for these acts.

The fans of these schools just thought everyone else was jealous. Did these programs really have problems? yes. Was the problem blown out of proportion? probably. Now take of the scarlet glasses. Does the Ohio State University football program....?

I am trying to play the Devil's advocate here, but am having a hard time believing what I am saying. Our problems aren't as bad as these other schools were. And what problems we have ARE being blown WAY out of proportion. I guess my point is that it isn't jealousy, but that what folks are getting about us is the media bias.
