it is because most people who call themselves college football fans these days are clueless

Exactly... I have good friends that are die hard fans of a lot of programs (Wisconsin, UCLA, Bama, PSU, Purdue, FSU and Colorado to name a few). From my experiences with people JT and the program is still very much respected even though ESPN has tried to drag him and OSU through the mud. Again.. this is just from my personal experiences.

ESPN will fall in love w/ Teddy Ginn next year and by default will have to show OSU in a more positive light.
You don't think they can't spin it like this?: "Even with all the distractions at tOSU Ted Ginn Jr. is still focused and making play after play on his way to winning the Heisman."
With the rules Espin plays by they don't HAVE to do anything. I think the only thing that will keep them half way civil for a while is that they want to be here for the Texas game. After that they are free to say what they want since The Game is at scUM this year.

I'm sure a lot of people are going to disagree with me on this one, but I think come September, ESPN will be hyping us much like they hyped this years national title contenders, especially especially with a win over Texas.

Every team that they hype has a story. Leinart and Bush, White and Peterson - these players pull crazy stats on the field and those accomplishments are glorified by ESPN to no end (regardless of under what conditions they were obtained).

The "S" in ESPN should stand for "sensationalism." That's all that drives mass media. You need players to accomplish feats that are incredible, and then hype them to a point that they are god like. Or, like in our case, take a minor or completely untrue problem and turn it into a disaster. ESPN will realize that nothing is going wrong here, and that fabricating (or continuing to fabricate, however you want to look at it) problems within the administration would get them into a lot of hot water. We have sensational players, and I think with a win over Texas (a huge win wouldn't hurt), ESPN can "brand" our team with the likes of Ginn, Hawk, and other who have yet to break out.

If they decided to ignore us, so be it. Trev will yet again have his panties in a bundle when we win the NC.

For the next few years, I think we'll see the offense that we've been waiting for. Along with the bulshit hype dying down about "problems" we've got, I'd like to see us really beat the crap out of everybody as we go through the season. That would shut 'em up.

Not to start any crap but how do you guys figure that you will be the NC this year?
See my post and others here. The short answer is, any team in the top 10 has a chance. Realistically, OSU probably is going to have at least one loss with three very tough games against Texas, Iowa, and @Michigan, but they're nonetheless a top 10 team with at worst about even odds of winning each individual game.

I can't think off any teams outside of USC that has a much better chance.
Virginia Tech will only have two very tough games this year, in Miami and a potential ACC championship. Also, Iowa will likely only have two very tough games this year, in OSU and Michigan. I'd say those two have a better chance of playing for the MNC, but I don't think either is a better team.

Many teams have a comparable chance of playing for the MNC as OSU with three very tough games: Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, and LSU.

Nobody is laughing at OSU? What planet do you live on?

ND had trouble against passing teams which is very evident in there losses and did well against running teams ala Mich. and Tenn. I would have rather lost to BYU than NW ......
Good thing ND didn't play Northwestern then...

Why would I possibly worry?

These are the same people that:
Take advise from the Nanny...
Think reality TV is real...
That Crack was started by the Feds...
That Bary Bonds isn't on roids...
Believe Oswald acted alone...
Blame McDonald's for being fat and pouring coffee in their lap...

People are non-critical thinking morons that believe anything they hear on TV. There ain't shit we can do about it.

LOL! HAHAH! You must not of watched your team against NW....

NDChief, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. We had a young team and they got over that. Would you be suggesting that ND got better as the year rolled on? Or that they would have stayed within 14 points of the Buckeyes at year end?

If so, then I think I have a new example of perceptual vigilance and its effects on perception for my classes!
